Description

Compared to the cramped hotel rooms we've squeezed our family in over the years, the apartment feels spacious and comfortable; its a place in the mountains where you can stretch out, relax and feel at home. There are 3 bedrooms to sleep 6 people and the sofabed can accomodate another 2 people comfortably.

2 double bedrooms, 1 coin montagne / bunk room, 2 bathrooms and large lounge kitchen diner; arranged over 2 floors with lovely views. Communal room with washer / dryer and table tennis table. Secure storage for bikes and ski gear and use of 1 parking space.

Under 2 hours from 4 international airports; within 45 mins of 2 mainline stations.

We live in the UK and will not be present during the stay; however we have good contacts in the village and we are happy to answer any queries any time of day.

The chalet is positioned up the mountain, in a peaceful location on the Route de St Guerin. The reservoir up the road is a lovely spot for a picnic and there are wonderful walks all around the area, especially along the ridge above the chalet. The 2 mountains present some challenging pistes and there are loads of fun spots to go off piste safely. Ski randoné is a popular discipline in Areches and the mountain behind the chalet is a favorite route. If ski randoné is your sport then you can usually ski back to the apartment January and February.

In the winter the snow plough clears the road making it accessible during the day. However if you arrive at night you may need snow chains. There is a shuttle bus in the village linking the 2 ski areas however it does not come up our road so you will need a car. You can park 1 car outside the chalet. Further parking may be available at the discretion of the other apartment owners.

Most people bring their own bed linen, we have 3 double duvets and 3 single duvets. You can use our bed linen if you prefer but please tell us at the time of booking as there will be associated laundry costs. All other items such as towels and tea towels must be washed and dried prior to departure.

If you are thinking about booking the property with friends, please note that the duvets on the double beds are doubles not singles.

Getting around

You will need a car to get around. We are 3kms outside the village and though you can walk down to the village, the mountain is steep so you will need the car (or a taxi) to come back.

We won't be present during your stay (we live in the UK), but we'll give you a very comprehensive house manual, you can get in touch anytime and we've got good contacts nearby if there is a problem. Please note we are required to collect and pay a tourist tax to the local department (taxe de sejour) and this will be added to your booking.

House rules

Most people bring their own sheets for the beds. You are welcome to use ours but we will need to charge for the laundry. Tell us when you book and we will send a quote based on the number of beds to be used. If you are bringing your own bedding we have 3 double duvets and 3 single duvets. All other household items such as towels and dish cloths should be washed and dried before you leave. Thank you.

“Super place, lovely town, pretty valley!”

A lovely apartment on 2 levels with good facilities, and a wonderful relaxed atmosphere. A great lounge with a super views, and very quiet at the end of the road with no passing traffic. A very traditional building full of character, and recommendable for a chilled out stay!
