Three trulli cones, an oven and an old "lamia" about a century old have revived the site's ancient appeal thanks to an accurate restoration and expansion supervised personally by the owner, a young Milanese architect who has always been in love with Apulia and wished to bring La Pietraia up-to-date while paying full respect to its ancient forms, colours and original materials. The structure was originally used as a shelter for the vine growing luxuriantly here, favoured by the rocky soil rich in the minerals of the sunny and breezy hills of Ostuni. In fact, The stony ground takes its name from the typical beautiful white-rosy limestone of Ostuni with which its trulli were built a century ago and are now brought to life in all their striking beauty.
The Petraia offers: three charming double bedrooms, two of which stand within the trulli, the other one also features a private and comfortable walk-in closet, each having its en-suite bathroom and independent access to the garden; an attractive and cosy living-room, placed within the ancient "lamia", with an old stone fireplace and wonderful views of the pool and surrounding landscape; a kitchen with all modern amenities; and a fourth bathroom for guests.
Every detail has been tastefully selected and installed, taking care to preserve the simple and authentic spirit of the chic place and guaranteeing an experience of elegant relaxation.
Outside, La Pietraia has: an relaxing infinity swimming pool with an enjoyable panoramic view; pleasant comfortable outdoor areas set in a Mediterranean garden with myrtle and mastic trees; a lovely dining area just below the olive trees in which to enjoy a "Fernandez" after a dip or dine by candlelight.
The spacious terrace on the roof to scenic overlooks countryside full of olive trees and forests of oak, providing an ideal spot to enjoy an aperitif at sunset.
The property is also equipped with wifi, Sky tv, climate control, automatic gate, video surveillance and a convenient and ample parking area.
La Pietraia is easily reached by way of a typical farm track and is strategically located just 4 km from the beautiful town of Ostuni, the famous "White Town" of Puglia, with its services such as pharmacies and supermarkets less than ten minutes away, and is only some 12 km from some of Puglia's loveliest beaches of the Ostuni's coastlines whose cleanliness and quality of amenities are testified to by the 5 Blue Flags won in recent year. The charming little fisherman harbour of Savelletri, where you can have a delightful fish dine or a stylish aperitif overlooking the sea is only half an hour from The stony ground.
Ceglie Messapica, a lovely little old town renowned for its excellent restaurants and its fine cuisine of Puglia, is just 8 km far from The stony ground. La Pietraia it is also ideally placed for exploring the enchanting Valle d'Itria, with its villages Martina Franca, Locorotondo and Cisternino whose countryside around is undoubtedly one of the best preserved and fascinating of Puglia and Italy.
La Pietraia is just 20 km far from the amazing Reserve of Torre Guaceto, to wide marine protected area where you can enjoy a bike ride into the wilderness of the park.
Do not miss a trip to Polignano a Mare with his charming old town and the breathtaking views of his cliffs and the beautiful Adriatic sea which is only 50 km away.
Brindisi airport is 40 km and the Bari airport is 100 km far.
