Slano - is located at the end of a beautiful, deep, 2 km long bay and represents an attractive resort due to numerous sandy beaches, lush vegetation and mild climate. The village and harbor of the bay are located 27 kilometers northwest of Dubrovnik. The population is engaged in agriculture, wine, olive oil, fruit, herbs, fishing and tourism.

Slano is located on the main road (M2, E65). Yachts can anchor in the sheltered bay and the town's waterfront.

The area of Slano was populated already in the prehistoric times (remains of buildings and ruins on the nearby hills) and in the ancient times (a Roman castrum on the hill Gradina, early Christian sarcophagi, which are now exhibited next to the Franciscan Monastery...) .

Slano is to fall 1399 under the rule of the Dubrovnik Republic. It was once the headquarters of the prince, so to be in it, and today it has the Rector's Palace rebuilt in the late 19th century. The mansion Ohmučevića family is nearby, and the church of St. Francis, with its monastery and the parish church of St . Blaise.

In the Slano can be viewed other religious buildings belonging to different historical periods: the Holy church of St. Peter, St . Roch , St . Ursula... Position of Slano is great because being so close to Elafiti islands, Mljet, Peljesac peninsula and Dubrovnik.
