Description

Brigadoon Old Time Irish Cottage has panoramic views of the Mourne Mountains. It is the perfect place for peace and tranquillity. The cottage is set on thirteen acres of woodland and wildlife. The nearest town is only a five minute drive away. Castlewellan has a castle, lake and gardens. You can fish in the lake with a fishing permit. Newcastle seaside town is only fifteen minute drive away, with it's beach, two golf courses - Mourne Golf Course and the famous Royal county Down Golf Course. There are four horse riding schools, two outside Newcastle and two outside Castlewellan. The cottage dates back to 1832, and is kept in the traditional décor, with a front half door, two open fires, one in the bedroom and the other in the living room. The windows are double glazing sash windows.

“Very disappointed”

We booked this cottage for a relaxing break away from everything but it was not as advertised we had a lovely day on the Thursday then just as we were about to make dinner on the Friday evening the owner arrived told us she was going to have dinner then leave but proceeded to stay at the property talking on her phone the started gardening my husband the asked what was going on to be told I’m being quiet after a long chat she said she would leave wee the settled down with a glass of wine to watch the moon come up and all was good until 10.20 pm when wee got blinded by a 4x4with a large trailer delivering stones apparently the owners needed them delivered. So all in all not good if you need to do work around your property don’t rent it out our break was ruined and we will not return.

Response from the owner I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay. I literally had my dinner for five minutes. In my little washouse. I moved my car to the bottom of the lane to give customers privacy. Gardening was a good bit from the cottage down the lane. Quietly cutting back brackens. Talking on the phone was literally five minutes. I was verbally attacked by the wife’s husband , of why I was in my own property. I explained , they where renting the cottage and the garden. Not down the lane. I offered that the guest could have a late check in the following day. Two customers have arrived since this complaint. And both these customers have left me with flowers and are returning.
