The Casita is an exquisite, private, "stand alone", cottage located amidst the lush banana forest and manicured gardens of The Hacienda. It is an efficiency apartment with a fully equipped kitchen, a lovely terrace overlooking the gardens and a bathroom with luxury towels and a hot water shower. You have a full kitchen with a stove, oven and a small refrigerator.

The Casita is designed to meet the standards of even the most discriminating visitor. It is open and filled with light. Each window has views to the green, lush vegetation. The 2 arched windows add delightful ambience and style. There is a queen size bed with a high quality mattress and luxurious linens, a dining and computer area and a small love seat for watching movies or the warm rain in cozy comfort. There is wireless internet, a smart TV, DVD player and a small library of DVD’s for your use. We also provide for your use while at The Casita umbrellas, flash light, area maps and brochures.

The kitchen cupboards and the closet are hand crafted from local woods that bring warmth into the room. The kitchen has a small refrigerator, a stove top and oven, and a remarkable country sink and has everything you need to prepare meals. The kitchen has a drip coffee maker, French coffee press, electric kettle, toaster, blender, rice maker, plates, bowls, glasses, cups, silverware, pots and pans, bake wear, assorted mixing bowls, plastic food saver containers, napkins, paper towels, extra trash bags and dish and kitchen towels, dish soap and much more. We provide some coffee and tea to get you started.

The full light entry doors open onto a private terrace overlooking the seasonal creek. The creek area is tropically lush with many bananas and jungle fauna and is magnificent even in the dry season when the water recedes. You have use of the entire Hacienda complex which comprise walk-ways, terraces and benches where assorted succulents, orchids and bromeliads are gathered to enhance the ambience. There are meditation benches lining the creek bed set in areas that generate quiet contemplation or shared meaningful conversation. Bring your morning coffee or evening glass of wine as you wander the gardens.

In the evenings the black-out curtains can be closed for absolute privacy to insure a wonderful rest. There is a bathroom with everything you need to feel comfortable. Plush towels compliment the warm atmosphere. We provide shampoo, cream rinse, shower gel and a hair dryer.

The Hacienda is a 10-minute drive from downtown Boquete. Walk downhill from The Hacienda to the village center in 20 minutes. A taxi is generally $6 per trip.

The Hacienda is a very lush and you are encouraged to wander the gardens, walkways and stairways. We have a variety of orchids, bromeliads, ferns, cacti and succulents. There are flowering plants and trees that draw in hummingbirds and butterflies. Many avid birders have had a great time discovering new species to add to their lists right in our backyard. As you walk you’ll discover many small niches created specifically for observing the extraordinary mix of wild jungle and manicured gardens that attract the wide diversity of tropical birds that flourish in the Boquete highlands. There is a mixture of banana plantation, wild jungle and planned garden beds. There is an assortment metal and ceramic suns framing special nooks throughout the property. Colorful concrete benches, comfortable outside furniture, couches, swings and hammocks are discovered as you investigate the grounds. Walk down the winding concrete steps to the stream area where jungle abundance surrounds you. In certain seasons the small stream becomes a trickle but the path it cuts into the banana jungle is always peaceful and prefect for sharing long conversations, reading that great book or simply sitting in quiet contemplation.

Getting around

Rent a car, take a taxi or walk 20 minutes down town to Boquete. Our guests have traveled here from all over the world and have used all manner of transportation, including feet. We often go into to town and are always willing to take out guests along.

Interaction with guest

We will be right in our home upstairs in the main house. We are available for maps to various activities and general information on the area. We will greet you when you arrive with your keys and to show you The Casita. The gardens and property is open for you to explore. Make sure you cross the "bridge" over the stream and see the gardens and the view to Boquete.

We ask that you treat our homes and gardens with love and respect. Please d quiet down by 10pm so all guests can have a good nights sleep. If your have children, please notice that some of our cacti have thorns so keep on eye out. Smoking is allowed in the gardens and not near the rooms. Please dispose of the remains in an outside trash can. We have local cell phone, flash lights, umbrellas, keys and local maps. Please return before checking out

There are a few details that our fantastic staff does not notice when preparing for a guest. Checking for coffee and phone minutes are two of those. I am usually here to catch this. We now have a separate internet line to The Casita so future guests will not have that challenge. The front door was easily fixed but I know it seems like a cacophony of items went astray while you were here. We apologize for this and wish you well on the rest of your journey in Panama.
