Description

A truly unique multi-level house in the picturesque island of Ydra, built in 1870 and fully restored in 1967 by Greek artist Eleni Vernadaki. It's a three bedroom house with a fully equipped kitchen, large living spaces and multiple outside terraces and gardens, in a quiet neighborhood, ideal for a relaxing holiday.

The Space

The house was initially a bakery (the built-in oven is still part of today's kitchen) and the original architecture has been conserved. The house is 110sqm (1200 sq.ft.) in two levels, with several terraces around and a garden.

On the ground level there is a fully equipped kitchen, a separate dining space, one of the bedrooms (2 single beds) and a small bathroom with shower. On the first floor there is a large living room and the other two bedrooms (pink room: double bed, yellow room: large single bed), as well as the second larger bathroom. Outside, one level up there is an external, covered dining room/kitchen with access to the garden and upper terraces.

Getting around

Getting around in Ydra is done mostly on foot (no cars are allowed on the island) or by boat (for the nearby beaches or to do a tour of the island). Our house is 10min walking distance to the port where you will find bars, cafes, restaurants, pharmacies, medical center, grocery stores/supermarkets, post office, shopping areas, as well as the boarding areas for the boats that go to the beaches (we can tell you which are the best ones!).

Interaction with guest

We will meet you at the port when you arrive, to guide you through Ydra's alleys and welcome you to our home! We can arrange for a donkey to carry up your stuff if you want (it's quite hard to roll suitcases in Ydra, as there are steps everywhere). Our housekeeper lives very close by and will be able to help you with any issues that might arise. You can reach us by phone, sms, messenger or email at any time before or during your stay. Feel free to call us from the house landline for any info or problem. We are happy to share tips and recommendations for beaches, hiking trails, restaurants and special events on the island. How do damage deposits work?
