GULF FRONT HOME ON CAPE SAN BLAS

Reminiscent of a grand old-Florida-style beach home, Shutters by the Sea is nestled among the dunes on one of the widest beachfront lots on the Cape. One-mile north of The Trading Post market and just south of Rish Park, a half-mile stretch of secluded beach, this home provides the perfect combination of convenience and privacy. Spacious, covered decks showcase the beauty of this magnificent expanse. The first thing we hear when guests arrive is “The views are spectacular!” Enjoy our famous sunsets from one of two deck swings as dolphins swim just offshore. Adirondack furniture provides plenty of outdoor seating for the entire family. In the mornings, we think coffee and tea are best enjoyed watching the sunrise at one of the built-in, east-facing corner tables. Try to count the mahogany shutters adorning the exterior. But, if you spend all your time outside, you’ll miss the other half of what makes Shutters by the Sea so special.

Built in 1985 and renovated in the summer of 2012, Shutters by the Sea is full of character unusual in newer homes. Each year brings additions and updates, including new AC and appliances in 2016. With every room opening to the wraparound decks, this home features wide-open spaces in which to relax and gather with family and friends. Antique-lovers will appreciate unique pieces and original artwork and rugs from around the world interspersed among modern comforts. You may notice many details utilizing reclaimed wood. Centuries of history are represented here. This is understated elegance.

On the main level, the living, dining and kitchen areas are situated to take full advantage of the spectacular ocean views. With granite counters and columned bar, this kitchen is fully-stocked with cook and bakeware, utensils, spices and serving pieces to please the most finicky chefs. The white oak floors now shine again, having been refinished in late 2016. Subtle beauty surrounds you.

The living and dining areas flow together and offer seating galore, a 43” HDTV, Bose sound system, fireplace, games, movies, books, and the main attraction - jaw-dropping views of the sea.

The main level also has two bedrooms – one with two queen beds and snuggly, down comforters and the other with one pillow-topped king bed. Both also have HDTVs, adjacent full bathrooms and private doors to the deck.

Upstairs, the library offers the perfect setting to curl up with a book and watch winter storms. Here you will find a queen foldout sofa, additional seating, IPod dock, coffee/tea station, imported washbasin and doors to the upstairs deck.

The adjacent and luxurious master suite provides an “Ahhhh"-inducing memory foam-topped king bed, overstuffed chairs, HDTV and doors to the upstairs deck. The upstairs bath features a double shower with floor-to-ceiling glass.

Shutters by the Sea provides satellite reception via Direct TV and includes over 200 channels and NetFlix, WiFi and free local and long-distance calls.

All decks are gated so that little ones (both two and four-legged) will be safe. A new sun/star-gazing deck, adjacent to the dune walk, provides unobstructed views for enjoying celestial shows, both day and night. To rinse away the powder-white sand, you will find a private foot-wash on the landing. The south-facing deck overlooks a habitat created for native plants and migrating birds and butterflies. Beauty abounds.

Enjoy plenty of protected parking as well as a covered seating area with sink and fish-cleaning station and both gas and charcoal grills. A private, outdoor shower with hot and cold water provide the perfect place to cool-off, clean-off or warm-up after a day outside.
