Description
Pinelodge is situated in the picturesque Pirin/Rhodope mountain range of Bulgaria surrounded by pine trees, several beautiful lakes and only 500 metres from the snejanka chairlift which takes you directly to the main ski area and the t.v tower (the highest skiable point of the mountain range) at this point you will find many bars and restaurants as well as a variety of ski runs for beginners, intermediates & advanced.
Being on the southern side of the mountain range Pinelodge benefits from all day sun during summer and winter months!! At a stones throw (100 metres) from Pinelodge you will find a family run 'Mehana' (restaurant) run by the very accommodating Sonia & Emile, definitely worth a visit or 3 !!
Only a 10 minute (6km) drive from Pinelodge is the beautiful town of Smolyan, here you will find an array of bars, restaurants and supermarkets for all your needs at very reasonable prices.
10 minutes drive in the other direction will lead you to the resort of Pamporovo, a much livelier apres ski scene.

The complex consists of only 28 luxury apartments unlike some of the huge developments in other parts of the resort, therefore it benefits from a more personal and relaxed atmosphere especially when using the facilities.
There is a large south facing balcony overlooking the pine trees equipped with furniture to have a relaxing beer and a snack!! Sunset is visible at certain times of the year. You will find a selection of DVDs, CDs and games at your disposal to wind down after a long days skiing or choose to sit in front of the open fire with a glass of Bulgarian wine.
The open plan arrangement gives a light and airy feel and enables you to keep an eye on the kids whilst in the kitchen.
Further details outdoors
At only 500 metres from ski lift number 4 a mere 10 minute walk, although there is free parking available next to the lifts if you choose to drive. Here you can purchase a daily or weekly lift pass without the hassle of queuing and be whisked up to the ski domain within minutes. Skis, snowboards and all sorts of equipment can also be hired from this station at very reasonable prices.
Within the gardens of Pinelodge you will find a children's play area and a BBQ for your pleasure, as well as a designated parking space.

“A lovely quiet apartment set in a beautiful part of the Mountains.”
When first arriving at this apartment, first impressions were good! Heating already turned on, with clean sheets, towels etc, which i thought was very good considering this is a self rented apartment.… More

“Cosy and modern, all in a great little package.”
We had a long drive from Sofia airport, so when we arrived it was great to find that the buliding supervisor had unlocked the apartment, turned on the heating and hot water, and everything was ready to do whatever we wanted. The property was very clean and welcoming, and quite spacious. A balcony to the rear that overlooks the pine woods and a dead end road at the front, so minimal traffic. The open fire is a great touch and although most blokes think they are great at starting fires, it took my friend a while to get it going (harder than you imagine) , but once it was, it made a wonderful bonus against the chilly evenings. There is a lovely family restaurant nearby, just 2 minutes walk and i can recommend the local dish of Patanik, very tasty. Although i wasn't convinced by the local spirit, very similar to Genepi and very strong, traditionally drank with a glass of what i can i can only describe as very thin yoghurt, not my best memory. It wasn't much further to the ski lift, and the mountain was reasonable quiet for saying it was UK schools half term, in France you could be queing for 15/20 minutes on the lifts, but not here, straight on. My friend was a snowboard beginner and the resort was great for him, but a little small for me as i'm quite advanced. Even so, there was enough to fill a week and what with it being uncrowded, it was a joy to take to the pistes, we even managed to find a new run that was almost 5km long and virtually deserted and with a few sections of off piste, that made me very happy. Plus it's possible that a holiday here would cost you half the price you pay in France. I strongly recommend renting a car, there is a small town nearby called Smolyan that has some great little restaurants and some general shops, and if you want to go to Pamprovo after the ski lifts shut, you'll need a car. All in all, i had a great time there and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to someone else.
