Cherry Orchard is an immaculately renovated, spacious, comfortable 3 bedroom house with garden and wonderful views over vineyards, orchards and rolling hills, topped with charming old stone villages. The house is located in the heart of Slovenia's Tuscany - the stunning Goriska Brda wine region, a little known gem between Nova Gorica and the Soca Valley on the border with the Italian Friuli region. The house is in walking distance to Smartno (St Martin) one of the region's most appealing historic small towns. The area is a treasure trove for culinary and wine enthusiasts as well as offering wonderful walking, beautiful nature and a huge range of daytrips within easy reach.

Response from the manager Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. We are sorry you didn’t have the perfect stay and have passed your feedback to the owners who have helped with the response below. When the owners re-built the house they chose not to put in air-con but rather to build the house upside down with the main bedrooms downstairs and to use eco-friendly and insulating materials in keeping with the local, rural area and the historic village of Šmartno. We have guests in the house all year round and, while it certainly can get warm, only as much as you would expect for a European cottage in the summer and it is certainly not standard to find aircon in any other traditional cottages in the area. We have never advertised as having aircon installed but taking on board your comments the owners have said they will be investing in more fans for future guests. The dishwasher not being entirely emptied was a genuine human error on the part of the cleaning team for which we are sorry. We did all we could do as soon as we heard, and the cleaning team did come to see you the following day but unfortunately you were out. The bedlinen was clean but we hadn’t made up all the beds as you were a smaller party than the total house capacity. This did mean there were under sheets on view and we understand this isn’t pretty so have changed our practice already following your comments. Likewise, we don’t have a welcome pack but the owners do make their own wine and jam from the vineyard and orchards around the house so will now leave some of their own produce for future guests and are sorry they didn’t do so for you. Thank you again for coming to the house and sharing your experience, and sorry it wasn’t the sort of accommodation you perhaps had hoped for with children in a very hot and dry July.
