Description

Historic Lye Bow Estate, est. in 1860, is a stunning natural sanctuary, on the edge of Butchers Dam Lake, offering a range of well-appointed rooms & suites.

The Lake Suite, sited just metres from the water's edge, is a modern cedar and schist apartment. It consists of a large master bedroom with an equally large ensuite, walk-in wardrobe, and lounge / dining area. Both spaces flow onto the spacious deck area less than 10 metres from the lake's edge.

The dining area includes tea & coffee making facilities, microwave, fridge and toaster. (A full kitchen is not available with this property). We also supply a scrummy cooked breakfast

Guests are welcome to wander throughout Lye Bow's gardens and orchards. The beautiful 8 acre property comprises of mature gardens, orchards and historic landmark sites. It's also bordered by Flat Top Hill Conservation Area, locally renowned for walking and mountain biking, with access to Otago's cycle trails.

Your private lake can be used for fishing or swimming. Alternatively you may like to enjoy a glass of wine, or a pot of tea on the pontoon.

You can access Flat Top Hill Conversation Area through the rear of our property where efforts are being made by DoC to re-establish the local native flora and fauna. There you will also find varied walking and mountain biking tracks, suitable for different fitness levels.

On your travels you will undoubtedly meet Duke, our resident super-friendly cavoodle. He's always keen for a walk with new friends.

Getting around

To get around easily you'll need your own vehicle as there isn't any public transport. If you are travelling on bicycle we can easily collect you from Alexandra and arrange shuttle transport into town for dining. For longer stays we are also happy to collect you from Queenstown airport - just over an hour away.

Interaction with guest

We live on the property and can help as much as you need with directions and tips. If you're interested we'd love to walk around the property and talk with you about the gardens and the history

How do damage deposits work?
