Description
La Grange is part of a stunning historic Provencal 'Mas' (farmstead), with private pool, situated near the Sisteron, the gateway to Provence. The house has wonderful views of Mison hill fort and is the perfect location whether you are seeking a peaceful time by the pool, visiting local hilltop villages and markets or enjoy outdoor sports. It is ideal for two or three families sharing, or up to 5 couples.
La Grange has been beautifully renovated and decorated in Provencal colours, and furnished with a mixture of contempory and antique furniture. It sleeps 14 (10 adults plus 4 children) in five large bedrooms, all with en-suite shower and toilets. There are two twins, one double, two triple (one with a narrow bed in alcove, suitable for child only) and one family room (double plus bunk beds in alcove). The first floor has a light and spacious living area, with high ceiling and exposed beams, dining area, balcony and fully equipped kitchen. There are lounges on both the ground floor and mezzanine, with satellite TV, free WiFi, library of books, DVDs, and games, including table football, a pool table and table tennis. Large garden where you can pick your own herbs, cherries, plums, grapes and figs in season. Private pool (12m x 6m, fenced), wooden sundeck, BBQ and shady terrace.
For small children and babies, we have 2 cots/highchairs, babygates and other useful baby 'stuff'. Linen and towels included.
There are lots of historic local villages and bars to visit, gorges to explore, swimming lakes and rivers as well as our 12m x 6m pool. There are also endless walking, cycling and mountain biking routes in the area – either gently winding along the rivers and through the orchards of the valley in front of the house, or more energetic routes through the forests in the hills behind us. For the even more adventurous, we have some great 'forest adventure' parks, canoeing on the river Durance, Via Ferrata, paragliding and Orpierre, just 20 mins away is a famous sports climbing destination. The owners live next door, so while you will enjoy full undisturbed privacy at La Grange, you are always welcome to drop in to ask for advice or to visit our friendly dogs and we are very happy to book activities or restaurants for your party.
For larger groups, a small property 'le cabanon' nearby is also available, sleeping 2 adults and 2 children, contact the owners for details.
