Description
We would love to welcome you to our beautiful, modern self catering holiday home a stone's throw away from the River Coquet in the traditional Village of Rothbury. Built of natural sandstone by Lord Armstrong of the famous Cragside Estates in the 1870's, 'Model Buildings' features in the Village Trail as modern workers housing of it's time!
The property is deceptively spacious and comprises of a large entrance hallway with a tiled floor, perfect for those muddy walking boots or towelling down the dog after a long walk. The fitted Kitchen is light and airy with gas hob and electric oven, dishwasher, microwave and fridge freezer. We have used River Neuk as our holiday home for years so you can imagine there is absolutely everything you could possibly need in the way of equipment, crockery and cutlery.
The large lounge/diner comfortably seats four people and comes with a range of entertainment including high speed Wifi internet, a 32" LCD TV, DVD Player, Radio System, Wii games console and a range of books, board games and DVDs! So if the weather's bad or just want to relax in comfort, we've tried to provide everything for you.
River Neuk sleeps up to four people with a comfortable double bedroom with wardrobe, large chest of drawers and bed side tables so there's plenty of storage. The second bedroom is a twin with a large day bed, wardrobe and bedside tables. Finally there is a family bathroom with a bath with shower over, WC, handbasin and also a washer/dryer. Although Model Buildings is a two storey historic property the accommodation is on one level making the Cottage ideal for people with limited mobility (there are two small steps to enter the property).
Outside there is a small private courtyard with storage shed where you can safely store cycles, or suitcases etc. We have also provided a trolley to help with unloading the car on arrival and bringing your belongings inside. At the back of the Cottage is a shared outdoor space with planters, seating and washing lines. The Coquet riverbank is just yards from the door with a wonderful play area for the children (slides, climbing frames etc) and a football area. It's all just a few seconds walk without having to cross any roads making it ideal for young families. We're also pet friendly and provide as standard feeding bowls, a spare lead (in case you forget when packing!) and dog towels.
We are happy to accept one well behaved dog at this property and there is a pet fee payable. Please enquire if you have more than one dog and let us know the breed and we still may accept your booking.
We're very proud of our Cottage and we love to spoil everyone who stays with a lovely welcome basket of local produce, teas and coffee.
The picturesque Village of Rothbury has excellent shops, restaurants and amenities and is located on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, providing an ideal base to explore rural Northumberland. There are a range of amenities including local shops, post office, cafés, country pubs and restaurants are all within easy walking distance of the property. There are numerous local tourist attractions, riverside walks and scenic countryside within the immediate vicinity.
Don't forget to bring some bread along to feed the ducks by the river! The stunning coastline of Northumberland is just a short distance away. River Neuk is the ideal base to explore all that Northumberland has to offer, from it's famous castles and award-winning beaches to walks, cycling, golf, water sports and fishing or one of the county's many attractions.

“Fabulous”
What a lovely find. The cottage is delightful. Spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The owner has gone out of their way to ensure that every need has been catered for. I cannot think of one thing I could complain about - that is recommendation enough in itself! Highly recommended.
