“A pearl of France with history and outdoor life in your neighbourhood.”

Reviewed 26 Dec 2012

The house felt like a real home with a lot of personal touch from the owners. Lots of space and literally all kind of necessary tools both side and outside. Clean and tidy. The advantage of the atmosphere which belongs to an originally old house, but at the same time the modernisation gives the necessary comfort. Very nice details in many rooms, especially the bathroom upstairs. (And the computer was very popular with our son!) The outside area is very nice. A perfect place to relax amidst lots of nice flowers, and you can both here and see the locals passing by. But not many of them, it is a small hamlet. The atmosphere of the hamlet is also very peaceful. Nice combined bakery/small grocery 3 minutes walk away, and the restaurant just 1 minute away was a surprise. Good food, and the owners take good care of you, in english if you like. However, a car is absolutely recommended as there are so many nice villages, small towns and sceneries to experience. Just a short drive away you will find them, some of them really pearls of France. And lots of local markets. And good possibillities of canoeing. The house owners seems to be the perfect hosts, it was a pleasure to meet them, and they know the area very well and can give you valuable advice on where to go. All in all, this is a gem for those who prefer a peaceful and comfortable holiday, if you prefer to holiday in the shopping streets in Paris or London, this is nothing for you! Knut, Norway

“A beautiful place to relax in and explore.”

Reviewed 2 Feb 2012

A beautiful house of generous proportions in a lovely village. Ideal for relaxing but with plenty of places to visit. The surrounding area is very pretty and the Gorge is spectacular. The market day in nearby St Antonin is amazing and colorful and well worth a visit. For the more adventurous, canoeing from St Antonin is a definite must. Something to suit everyone and highly recommended.

“A beautiful tranquil place to stay - a little bit of heaven!”

Reviewed 23 Jan 2012

The house is in a beautiful village in exquisite walking country. It is within an hour and a half of two airports and the journeys from both have been hassle free. There is a wonderful boulangerie and bistro in a village so you can stock up from products from many local markets and then relax in your French home, with fresh bread on the doorstep. There are many lovely places to visit in the area - action packed if you want it - like tree climbing and canoeing, table tennis, cycling (bikes available in the house) and hiking or take in the ambience of cafes and restaurants in picturesque, stunning scenery. The house has every amenity you could want and is warm and welcoming. Something to suit all ages and inclinations!

“Fantastic Experience, Wonderful Home!!”

Reviewed 15 Jan 2012

My family (children 6 & 16) stayed for a week in June. The house was perfect for us. Everything we needed was readily available and it absolutely oozed with charm throughout. There was plenty of room for all of us and more. The house is full of lovely furnishings and touches of whimsy. The courtyard was perfect for the kids and adults alike. I tell you, nothing was better than dining al fresco in that courtyard after St. Antonin market day. Rotisserie chicken & pasta, salami and cheese, fresh fruits & vegetables and wine. Ah, some of the best memories ever! We absolutely loved the location. It was easy to get to larger towns and cities for day trips. Yet always wonderful to come back at the end of the day to Verfeil, and take a walk at sunset or simply relax and enjoy a glass of wine. The town itself is small and extremely quaint. There is one lovely restaurant that we frequented, and keep in touch with the staff through email. Also nice little shop for essentials within walking distance with yummy croissants! The children had their pain au chocolate nearly every day. Nearby there is plenty to do for everyone. Very picturesque countryside and villages. I can't tell you how many photos I took! And the kayaking is a must for visitors. Gorgeous scenery! If I could've stayed there forever, I surely would have! We will be back as often as possible. Thank you for making our stay so memorable!

We too, continue to be charmed by the friendly local people, are still in awe at the stunning countryside and historic picturesque local bastide villages. The local bistro owners still talk animatedly about your much-enjoyed presence in the village. We hope to meet you personally when you return.
