Description
Lovely accommodation with amazing views of both lake and mountains and set within the rustic cobbled streets at the heart of the historic centre of Acquaseria yet only a short few minutes' walk to the nearest beach. Casa Rossa is stylishly furnished and equipped to a very high standard. Arranged over two floors, the entrance hall on the ground floor is warm & welcoming with a 'wine cellar' for you to enjoy - all we ask is that you replace any empty bottles for our next guests. The layout of the house is 'upside down' and the 2 bedrooms are on the ground floor. The master bedroom has a king sized double bed and the second bedroom has twin beds. Both bedrooms have efficient ceiling fans and share a small private terrace with lake and mountain views. A bathroom with shower completes the ground floor accommodation and a spiral staircase leads up to the first floor.
The first thing you will notice at the top of the stairs is the panoramic view before you. Patio doors running almost the full width of the front of the house open onto a private terrace - lake, mountains and sailing boats take up the entire vista (180 degrees and beyond). The terrace has a table and chairs and there are also a couple of sun beds for those who want to spend a lazy day 'at home'. It is a real sun-trap all year round and it's great to slide wide the doors and enjoy some indoor/outdoor living. The lounge is furnished with a soft brown leather sofa and armchair with co-ordinating cushions, rugs and throws. This is complemented by an antique wooden trunk with lamps and spotlights to showcase the wonderful wooden beams in the vaulted ceiling. A contemporary glass and chrome dining table completes the room. There is free wifi, and a flat screen TV with satellite channels. Weather conditions affect the signal but the TV has USB ports and scart sockets so feel to bring your own streaming device if TV is imperative. There is a DVD player which also plays CD's and a small selection of books, DVD's and games.
The kitchen is open plan so shares the view from the lounge and is fully equipped with fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher and all the other kitchen essentials that you would expect from first class accommodation. The first floor also boasts a very convenient second bathroom with shower and washing machine. There are multiple free parking areas around the village.
Please note , the house is in the ancient Borgo which is a maze of cobbled streets with some steps and climbs which may make it difficult if you are of restricted mobility.

Response from the owner Thank you for taking the time to review Casa Rossa. You have mentioned a couple of points which I feel I should clarify purely for the benefit of potential future guests. As described the house is in the ancient borgo within a maze of cobbled streets. The borgo is a traffic free zone and the garage is a few minutes short walk from the house. Inevitably as it’s a mountainous area there are some slopes and steps within the village to and from the lakeside but the payoff is the marvellous view from the house. There are around 12 shallow steps along the route from the garage to the house plus the steps to the front door as shown on the photos. There are not 28 flights of stairs as you mention so I can only assume you meant ‘steps’ rather than ‘flights of stairs’ and that this difference is purely due to a language interpretation. Having one full bathroom on each floor has always proved very convenient given that most time spent in the house is on the upper floor in the living area or out on the terrace enjoying the views. I’m sorry that the second bedroom didn’t exactly meet your needs on this occasion. Luckily the entrance hall is very spacious with lots of room to store extra luggage etc. It’s a shame that you thought the terrace was a bit of a squeeze as the majority of our guests are 4 adults holidaying together and in 7 years this is the first comment of that nature. Thank you for mentioning the glassware. I know the importance of a glass of good Italian wine and everything was fully stocked (with spares tucked away but accessible in the kitchen cupboards) when I visited in early May but I will let our housekeeper know in case they need replacing. “Birthday Celebrations”
3 of us very much enjoyed our few days at Casa Rossa in San Siro near Menaggio. Wonderful views from the holiday home, everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Felt like we were part of real Italy but near to all that Lake Como has to offer.
