A small comfortable garden apartment on the fringe of the historic centre, superior backpacker for grownups, a large terrace has a portable bbq , loungers, table and chairs, sunshades and a view into the distance. . A few minutes walk to train and bus stations. Trains easily connect to central Lisbon (Rossio), run every 20 mins., seamlessly link to underground network, until 02.00a.m. An excellent bus network with a wide choice of towns villages and beaches offer a relaxed way of getting around. It is possible to go to Porto and be back on the same day by fast train. This apartment is on the ground floor of a large free-standing private house. Semi-rural atmosphere with a basic kitchen for breakfast and smallish meals. Restaurants and cafés of all prices abound in the area. A car is not needed and we offer airport pickups and shopping trips. contact us for more details.

House rules
The apartment is too small too accommodate extra beds for children over 18 months. Small babies welcome. Excellent cot and high chair available..
We advise that the apartment is unsuitable for wheelchair users as there are steps from the street level and to the terrace.
With regret we cannot allow pets.
Blocked drains in bathroom and kitchen will be charged to the damage deposit. as will breakages or property damage.

“A comfortable, well-equipped apartment with character in an excellent location”
We stayed in the apartment for 12 nights in early September. Karin (the owner) met us at the airport and also took us to the supermarket. The apartment was bigger than we expected with a separate kitchen, combined living and dining area, a bedroom and bathroom. Outdoor space comprised sole use of a big terrace (both sun and shade) with furniture, barbeque and extensive views. We could just see the towers of the palace at Mafra in the distance. The apartment is in the peaceful Estefania district of Sintra, five minutes walk from the market hall (fresh fish and excellent pastries) the museum of modern art and the stop for the antique tram which runs at weekends down to the coast at Praia de Macas. An easy 15-20 minute walk will take you to the main train station (40 minutes into Lisbon) and then downhill into the historic centre. We enjoyed this walk, which has great views across the town - and we appreciated being away from the tourist traffic. Sintra is a perfect base for a holiday. We found plenty to do in the town itself - we loved the forest walking paths up to and around the castle and the Pena palace as well as exploring the pretty Sao Pedro district (worth a trip for a good lunch). A local bus service links all the palaces if you don't fancy the walk. The weather was good during our stay, with plenty of sun, but the mist can descend from the mountains - which is part of Sintra's romantic appeal. Karin provides a dehumidifier in the bedroom of the apartment and we found we did need to use it when the humidity was high. Thank you for your hospitality Karin - we had a wonderful holiday.
