The view is amazing. A marked trail runs to the top of the mountain from the farm Brandaskard. Or you can walk around the mountain. Spakonufell is one of the most impressive mountain in this area, 646 m high. The name of the mountain derives from Thordis the prophetess who lived on a farm of the same name as the mountain, situated by its roots in the 10th century. She was the first person to settle in Skagastrond.
Selavikurtangi is about 40 km north of Skagastrond at Kaldranavik. Just out from the shore at a distance of about 40 - 50 m you can see seals at as they lie sprawled on the reefs and gaze with curiosity into the eyes of the tourists. They can be very numerous.

In the Village you will find a coffee house (open in the summertime), a superstore with food and most things you need, kiosk with grill, restaurant Kantrybaer with a bar (open in summertime), golf course, swimming pool (open in the summertime), art gallery - exhibition and much more. Arnes one of the oldest houses in Skagastrond, is open in summertime. Kantrybaer is also a museum and a radio station that plays mostly country music.

In the Wintertime you can go Skiing in the mount Tindastoll only 30 minutes away, or go to Hlidarfjall, Akureyri.

There is a bus daily from the capital Reykjavik to Blonduos and from Blonduos to Skagastrond with private car. From Skagastrond you can go to other Villages in the North or to the beautiful town Akureyri. It is best to rent a car to be able to travel around. In wintertime, it is better to rent 4WD.
