CASA RAMBALDO (90 sqm - 1 floor + loft - sleeps 4 people)
This lovely medieval stone holiday home distributed on one floor plus a mezzanine is part of the Castle of Strassoldo di Sopra.
It preserves the magic atmosphere of the past and has a private garden guaranteeing the guests' privacy and access on the castle’s main garden.
The quietness and positive atmosphere of Casa Rambaldo is ideal for families, for people searching a place to rest and tank energy and for those interested in discovering the hidden treasures of the Region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, which is still rather unknown.
The complex of the Castle of Strassoldo di Sopra is formed by the main building, where the counts of Strassoldo still live, which is surrounded by a series of beautiful stone buildings in olden times used as guards' houses, administrative and judicial centre, stables, artisans' house, granaries, archives, rice mill and the ancient tower.
The main buillding is connected by an arch to the church of St. Nikolaus, formerly the castle's chapel, where catholic masses are held on Sundays, on one side and to the ancient tower on the other side.
The setting is really beautiful and the whole castle complex is surrounded by lovely gardens, crossed by spring-water streams and rivers.
The family Strassoldo has finely restored three beautiful stone holiday homes: La Vicinia, Casa Rambaldo and Casa Artuico, which are placed near to each other, on the northern side of the property.
Each of them has its private garden, guaranteeing the guests privacy and access on the castle's beautiful main garden.
These charming homes are very nicely furnished (La Vicinia with furniture hand-painted by local artisans, whilst Casa Rambaldo and Casa Artuico with ancient furniture ) and have been provided with every comfort.
Strassoldo is a precious gem of a lovely and still unknown region which is not overrun by tourists and has many important historical sites, a lovely nature with many different wonderful landscapes ranging from high mountains, through rolling hills and green plains to rock or sand beaches.
The castle is situated in a very central position making it easy to reach all these attractions. Only to mention a few, Venice is reachable in 1 hour's drive, the ancient Roman colony of Aquileia (the second biggest colony of Rome) is reachable in 10 minutes, the golden beach of Grado in 20 minutes, the beautiful town of Udine in 30 minutes, the marvelous Adriatic Gulf with the town/port of Trieste in 38 minutes, Slovenia in 35 minutes and Austria in 60 minutes.
A holiday at the Castle of Strassoldo di Sopra will let you relax, breathe the charm of one of the most important and ancient castles of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, make nice walks in the green countryside, go biking through cute little rural villages, go swimming in the nearby Adriatic sea and make nice day excursions to many interesting regional sites and towns.
The Region is also famous for its excellent wines and food which will make the holiday even more agreeable.

“An Italian Chateaux Garden and Guest House - superb”
A wonderful place! An Italian paradise! For us as a small family it exceeded even the great expecatations. Close to the Grado beach for the kid, in the middle of Friuli for all kind of (family) excursions and in the evenings this extremely nice and cooling small house with a beautiful garden for the entire family.
