Description
Our place is set in a compound, three cabins, a main house and a teepee, all next to a beach and a wharf. The Bunky is very simple but comfortable. It used to house a Suzuki Sidekick and now houses people for a good night's sleep. It is private. It has no running water (yet), and the shared bathroom is about 100 feet away. All very communal.
Bauline is what is called an "outport". Today we are about 1 hour from St. John's, the original settlement would have have been more than a day's horse ride from there. We are really at the end of the road, from our harbour you can go out to sea, or you go back to where you came from, or you can up into La Manche Park (hiking). Please in our neighborhood, still fish when they can, cut their own wood, some grow food, others go away to work in the oil projects, others are local carpenters. It is a colorful neighborhood.
You will have a bbq available as well as a washer and dryer. Full bathroom is outside of the Barn but very close and it is shared with the Shed.
If we are around we will greet the guests, and if they chose to have meals with us, we offer that. We are certainly nice to people - usually.
Bauline is an old outport. People are really friendly and curious about CFAs (come from away). It is a really nice harbour at the end of a road. Next stop is a hike to La Manche Park.
There is a pond to swim in, a beach to have bonfires or walk, explore, trails everywhere. Close enough to St. John's but far enough away that it is still a throwback with genuine people.
No public transport available, but there is one service that can bring you from the airport to us after 4:00 pm and leaves in the morning @9:00 am. We can also arrange for paid rides, if need be. Reserve a car early - it is a real problem in NFLD.
All instructions are noted in a packet sent to you before you come. As we have three structures occupied - the Cottage, the Cabin and the Barn we expect you respect others people space and tranquility as one normally would in nature.
