'Casa in Piazza' is located in a residential, pedestrian only part of the historical center of Vasto, Abruzzo, Italy. Only a minutes walk from the many bars, restaurants and boutiques and main piazza. It's location is perfect for those wishing to immerse themselves in the local life and colour and experience 'REAL' Italy. The town is situated just above the Adriatic coast in the unspoilt region of Abruzzo. Vasto is easily accessible from Pescara Abruzzo airport in 50 minutes, or Rome in 3 hours by direct air-con coach. The house is within walking distance 15 mins (down steps) of the beach. Vasto marina beach (25 mins walk, or 5 mins by bus/car) has miles of golden sand where you can hire sun beds and umbrellas, motorboats and pedalos. The beach is very wide, sandy and gently shelving.
Please note the perfect location of my property in the historical center of town close to restaurants and cafes NOT the outskirts (where most holiday property is located)
The house has an open plan ground floor. kitchenette with oven, gas hob and fridge with freezer compartment. cool bag and chillers are also supplied. The shuttered front window by the dining table (seats 4) has views out onto sunny piazza. There is a comfortable sofa and a smart TV. We provide a range of holiday reading books, guide books and a large range of DVD's as well as a brochure on the local and surrounding area, with maps and recommendations. Free unlimited Internet.
The marble stairs lead up to the large family bathroom with w.c, bidet, basin and vanity unit with mirror, heated towel rail, radiator and bath with shower over. The high ceiling in the bathroom is full of character with wooden beams. and a window into a cobbled street.
The bedroom also has a high wood beamed ceiling and features a king size bed with side cabinets, lamps, 2 double wardrobes, small table and 2 chairs and French doors leading to a small Juliette balcony with views over the sunny piazza. Air-conditioning is available in the bedroom for a supplement of €7 a day (usually only needed July and August)
Beach towels, beach umbrella, cool bag and chillers are provided.
There is free street car parking 2 mins walk from the apartment or you can park in one of the car parks around the town or multi-story car park all within a few minutes walk of the house. A car is NOT necessary here unless you want to explore further afield.Car hire is available in Vasto.
The tourists here are mainly from Rome, and it is geared very much to the outdoor Italian lifestyle. The town can become lively in the high summer months, where we like a passagiata and to gather in the piazzi or in one of the many bars or cafes. English is not widely spoken but we do provide a phrase book! Vasto is the perfect location for either a beach holiday, or a city break at any time of the year.Sleeps maximum of 2 people.

Vasto is a charming medieval town and has plenty to offer for a weekend or for a fortnights holiday. Cultural events are put on throughout the year for visitors, most of which are free to attend. Concerts, opera in the palazzo gardens, rock bands, food and wine tasting, film festival and Siren Fest music festival.
Fresh fish and seafood is a Vasto speciality, as is suckling pig (porchetta) Our local wines for fish are Pecorino and Trebbiano and Montepulciano d'Abruzzo for meat. There is a farmers market with local produce and a weekly market on Saturday too.
There are lots of pavement cafes, restaurants, bars, shops, art galleries, museum and castle are all within a couple of hundred yards of our properties. Also a gym, tennis court and running track.
Aqualand water park is 15 minutes drive/bus. The Tremiti Islands are 50 minutes by local ferry where you can dive, snorkel or hire a boat. The Cavallone Caves and Majaletta mountains are 1 1/4 hours drive. Rome and Naples are 3 hours

I expect new houses in Australia are much larger than here in the medieval historical center, the casa is actually 65 square meters and has a very large bathroom, which is above average size for an Italian historical house. We often have families of 4 staying with us very comfortably too which represents remarkably good value for money. The house is located in the pedestrian only part of town (so nice and quiet) but as you say, close to all the wonderful views and attractions and most parking is only a 2 minute stroll away. We provide every guest with a parking map of not only the big car parks and the multi-story but also the free spaces around town. The free spaces are easily available except in high season at aperativo time when everyone is coming to Vasto for the evening passeggiata so you do have to get in first or be patient! There is lots to see and do in Vasto, but glad you had chance to explore the surrounding area. Lots of ideas on what to see and do locally and further afield are suggested in our Vasto PDF brochure provided to all guests prior to arrival. We hope you can visit us again and look forward to sharing another bottle of Prosecco with you, and of course some of my home grown olives! Regards, Judy e James
