“5 stars!”

Reviewed 11 Mar 2018

My two girlfriends and I decided to make an impromptu getaway to this area of France, as it is an area we had not previously explored. As our trip was in the low season we pretty much had our pick of places to stay. After reading the reviews we felt we had found a gem in selecting The Barn and I am happy to say we were in no way disappointed! It was a seamless process from booking to the moment we left. Sharon has overlooked no detail in ensuring that all you need for a relaxing, worry free stay is taken care of. We indulged in the croissants each morning and our last evening they prepared the beef Bourguignon for our dinner. It was, hands down, our best meal during our stay. Delicious! I could go on and on with how welcoming they are but I will just wrap it up by saying you will not be disappointed. The locale is beautiful and I feel this is an area in the countryside for relaxing and enjoying the outdoors in the warmer months. We took day trips to Semur en Auxois and Flavigny sur Ozerain and farther afield to Beaune. Although many places were closed because of the season it was not hard to imagine how lively the smaller villages will be in the summer and fall. We took in some wine tasting at the area wineries and would definitely like to return to this area and spend more time. Thank you Sharon!

Response from the owner Cyndi, thank you for this wonderful review. I have never had guest pack so much into a short stay! You must have been exhausted. It was an absolute pleasure to welcome the three of you and introduce you to this corner of the Côte d'Or. Gregoire and I look forward to seeing you soon back at The Barn in Burgundy. We await your return!

“Very comfortable and spacious gite in lovely countryside”

Reviewed 25 Sep 2014

This barn conversion is beautifully done and set in a lovely rural location. The furnishings and decor are modern and tasteful and we loved the shower rooms and the instant hot water. Owners Sharon and Gregoire live next door and were delightful but unobtrusive hosts. The homecooked meals were delicious and great value. There are lots of places to visit within easy driving distance and the countryside is staggeringly beautiful. Larger towns like Dijon, Beaune and Auxerre are all accessible either by car or train and shouldn't be missed. For wine-lovers and foodies, Burgundy is a fabulous place to visit and the Barn is a great base from which to explore as well as being a warm and welcoming home from home.

“Wonderful!!”

Reviewed 17 Nov 2013

This is a really lovely gite, well appointed and very tastefully decorated. The owners live next door and nothing was too much trouble for them. They are extremely friendly, lovely people. I would have liked a pool but there is a selection of lakes not too far away to swim in. My wife and I would most definitely recommend this charming quiet holiday home which is in a lovely setting and within driving distance of some lovely towns and villages.

“The Barn at Frolis - we enjoyed it very much”

Reviewed 9 Jul 2013

My wife and I stayed for 2 weeks at the Barn at Frolois in May, 2013. We did not want to stay in a big city but wanted to experience French life in a village. At the end of our stay we were a little sad to be leaving. The Barn was extremely well appointed, clean and comfortable. We loved the fresh bread deliveries each day. Frolois served our purpose as a base to travel out to various points of interest in Burgundy and Chablis, including Dijon and Baume. We enjoyed just getting lost and having the GPS bring us home. Frolois is very quiet but we enjoyed the walks up the hill to Frolois-le-Village and exploring up there. The Grange Restaurant at Flavigny was cute (and in the film Cocolat). Shopping 20-30 minutes away. Slow down, there is so much to find if you don’t rush. The owners Sharon and Gregoire are the nicest people you would want to meet. We traveled from Australia.

“A beautiful house renovated to the highest standard owned by a delightful welcoming family”

Reviewed 25 Jun 2013

This gite has been renovated with such care and attention to every detail. It has wonderful views and the real bonus for us were the three meals cooked for us by Sharon and Gregoire. These were cooked and brought to the barn to eat at our leisure without having to drive. They are a must and don't be afraid to ask for something not on the list or even better ask Gregoire to suggest some alternatives.
