Description

Tucked into lush gardens with banana & citrus trees, this cozy eco-friendly adobe cabin has great views of the scenic valley in which it is located, at the start of the main Hiking & Birding trails in Vilcabamba.

The cabin has a bedroom/living room with a balcony where you can enjoy the panoramic views, the birds and the sounds of nature from the comfort of your hammock.

The kitchen has a stove, oven, fridge, blender, water filter & basic pots and utensils.

There is outdoor sitting space at the entrance overlooking the mountains and garden.

It's a 3-4 minute uphill walk to the cabins

Getting around

We are 4 km's from the center of Vilcabamba, in the upper reaches of the valley, reached by a dirt road. There are plenty of stores and restaurants in Vilcabamba but not much further out, so it is advisable to eat or get a few groceries before coming up if you are arriving late. It is a beautiful and culturally interesting 45 minute to 1 hour walk to Vilcabamba, or a 15 minute $3.00 taxi ride. We can call a taxi for you whenever you need one. As the instigators of eco-tourism in Vilcabamba we have a wealth of knowldege about hiking and horsetrecking in the area, birding, visiting the Podocarpus National Park and general activities in the area.

Interaction with guest

We, Sarah & Charlie, are always willing to help our guests with whatever you need. Having been in the area a long time (30/40 years), we have lots of local knowledge for both travellers and those looking to make Vilcabamba their new home. Anything you need just let us know, in person or by email. We have maps & directions for local hikes and can help organize day horse treks into the mountains. Our color bird guide has photos of the most common species around the cabins.

- Please leave kitchen clean, including the fridge, stove & dishes :)
- Organic waste can be thrown in the compost (we will show you where) & Inorganic rubbish can be left at our house
- NO SMOKING of any kind inside thecabin or beds
- Switch off unused lights.
- A washing machine is available by arrangement
- Water filters for drinking water are provided. The ceramic filter should be washed occasionally.
- Please soak mop in water before using
- Monthly renters should leave the cabin clean

How do damage deposits work?
