Description
Our traditional, stone-built villa with private infinity pool and stunning sunset views over the Ionian sea is ideal for those seeking rest, relaxation and tranquility.
Located on the side of a hill in north west Zakynthos overlooking the sea, the seclusion at Stravatha is absolute — there is not a sign of human habitation for miles and miles. Instead, all you will see are the rolling hills, the clear blue sea and the most beautiful sunsets on the whole of the island. You will hear cicadas, the wind in the trees and distant goat bells. You'll smell lavender, wild thyme and warm pine.
Stravatha is a light and spacious 3 bedroom house (2 doubles and an upstairs twin, which can be made into a double). There are two bathrooms with rain showers, a large entrance arch room with 3-seater sofa, TV, DVD player and a wide choice of movies. The split level kitchen/ diner/ sitting room is open plan with French doors from the sitting area leading on to the large front terrace with outside seating/dining and views out to sea and towards Kefalonia. The sitting room is fitted with a Bluetooth sound system and large corner sofa that is perfect for lounging. The kitchen/diner is fully fitted with large fridge freezer, gas oven and four ring hob, kettle, toaster, food processor, etc. The large dining table (seats 6 for when you want to eat indoors). The house also has wifi.
The new 12m infinity pool has the most amazing view of the sea (and sunset). Comfortable bean bag loungers and a day bed are perfect for lazy days by the pool. There is also an outside shower. Wrapping around the house is a large terrace with another table at the back underneath the grape vine, and to the side is a further shady terrace beneath an ancient pine tree.
The nearest village is Volimes, which has cafes, a bakery, small shops, etc, and is just 1.5km away. Agios Nikolaos and the east coast, with beaches, coves and an abundance of tavernas and a few bars is just a 15 min drive from the house.

“Relax in Paradise.”

“Wonderful house with amazing views”
The house is in a beautiful setting, in the scenic northern part of Zakynthos. It feels like, indeed is, a family home and the rooms are all comfortable and attractive. The best thing by far though is the views from the outside - we spent many happy hours on the patio with a meal and glass of wine enjoying the views over the Ionian, a view which it is impossible to tire of especially with the wonderful sunsets. The house will comfortably sleep up to 6 people, the best bedroom in my view was the upstairs one with an idyllic view over the sea, but they're all good! I wouldn't take toddlers or children younger than say, 5 years as there are a few drops around the garden walls, but it's fine for older kids (ours are aged between 6 and 14). Takes a little bit of finding but the owner's info was very good and we found the house with no problems. As previous guests have said, the track to the house is bumpy so it's best to not have a really expensive hire car. Access is fine if you drive slowly; local car hire firms are often cheaper and some have older cars which already have a few bumps & scrapes! I wouldn't want to try & locate the house in the dark though. In terms of location, northern Zakynthos is less touristy / built up than the south and we went to lots of great beaches and coves and enjoyed snorkelling in the clear water and exploring sea caves! The nearest village is 10 mins drive away and has a handful of small bars / eateries and craft shops and local stalls selling produce such as honey, olive oil etc. Best to do your generic food shopping in the busier areas nearer to Zakynthos town as there's more choice of supermarkets; the owners gave us lots of helpful info before our holiday on where these are, as well as a few tips on best beaches / coves and places to eat out. We had a wonderful two weeks at the house and it was a privilege to stay here.
