Grounding and Calm

Staying in the Byre helped me reach a level of relaxation I had not felt for many years. I slept like a log in the very comfortable bed, was nice and warm despite the prevailing snowy conditions and felt instantly 'at home'.

Super cottage in fantastic location

Having been revisiting this part of the world for over 10 years this was our first stay in the village of Allendale. A super cottage with very good facilities. Very comfortable in ideal spot. Tried to book again but work was being carried out so booked other accomadation in Allendale. Will definitely book this cottage again.

Brilliant retreat away from the hussle

A very comfortable cottage only a short distance from Hadrian's Wall. The weather was against us when we were there, so we spent more time in cottage. It had all the amenities and was cosy. The owner was on site and exceptionally helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Newly baked scones, homemade jam and tea things are laid ready on the table to welcome guests.
The cottage is very well appointed and the decor is excellent but not overstated.
There is a good shop in Otterburn, only 2 miles away, where you can get newspapers and all basic food requirements. About 10 miles away there is an excellent Farm Shop at Wallington Hall.

Lovely cottage in beautiful countryside. Ideally placed for walking and cycling as well as being near enough to the coast and towns. Very relaxing and an added bonus was enjoying breakfast on the patio as the weather was fantastic. Great place for a big family holiday. Loads of space for all- 3 reception areas- one with a fantastic stained glass window. Fantastic views out across the fields and just a short 5 mins drive to Hadrian's Wall and all the sites. Landlord very helpful. Great location for all things Roman. Myself and 3 other girls stayed at this beautiful cottage for a month as we were training to be cabin crew at the aviation academy, Newcastle.

Fantastic Holiday.

Great cottage all you could want and more. Fantastic hosts respect your privacy but are always there if needed for anything. Very peaceful location but only a few minutes drive from main routes. A welcome pack second to none with all you need for the first night and next morning and all fresh local produce.

It is like our second home!

We always get a warm welcome and are greeted by the dogs immediately. The location is wonderful for a complete getaway from the stresses and strains of life. The cottage is very comfortable and everything you need is there, including complimentary freshly laid eggs and sloe gin! There is always plenty to do in the surrounding area and lots of lovely walks around the farm.

Helen and Les are a lovely couple who run a comfortable and well appointed Bed and Breakfast establishment. Breakfasts are superb, there is a wide choice, and they are expertly cooked using fresh produce. The lounge benefits from a lovely open fire which was most welcoming on a Northumbrian evening.

Quietly situated about 5 miles from Rothbury and within easy reach of the coast and the dales, this farm cottage is very clean, well equipped and very comfortable. A warm and friendly greeting is always guaranteed from the owner who is on site.

We have been many times since our first visit some 5 years ago and will be going back again for the second time later this year.

We stayed in the Lodge over Christmas.

The layout has been well thought out and has everything that we wanted for the stay, we were glad to see that the Lodge has a bath as it is not mentioned on Sykes Cottages, who we booked through.

Although other reviews were very good apart from a silly complaint about the TV being too large, it was exactly what we hoped for. The property had been thoughly cleaned and beautifully presented. The perfect place for a holiday

Tawny Nook Cottage is an exceptionally well maintained and equipped property in an ideal location for exploring the Northumbrian coastline, There are several traditional market towns to visit as well as Kielder Lake and Forest which are all within easy reach. We were made very welcome; the basket of provisions was a nice touch and we wouldn't hesitate to go back.
