The cottage is located down a private driveway on almost 2 acres of land, offering loads of privacy amongst the mature red oak forest. It’s rated 10 out of 10 for privacy. With an amazing view of the Fairholme Lake right from the 40 x 10 cedar deck.

The interior was renovated in 2012 and decorated with a mixture of old and new, but keeping with that cottage feel. The kitchen offers an updated kitchen with stainless steel appliances and dishwasher, alllowing you to relax instead of cleaning on your vacation.

A beautiful 1680 sq ft cottage with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. It has been completely renovated with a master bedroom (1 queen) and 2 piece bathroom on the main floor, screened-in sunroom, cathedral ceilings, and cozy fireplace.

Upstairs you will find 2 large size bedrooms and remodeled full size bath. One of the rooms has a queen bed and the other one with 2 bunkbeds with double on the bottom singles on top. This room offers sleeping accommodations for 6. With a 42 inch flat screen TV and blu- ray for movies, makes this room a perfect hangout for the kids.

Fully equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances, dishwasher, coffee maker, blender, toaster, pots, pans, baking sheets, kettle, microwave, dishes, bread maker, water cooler, satellite TV, 2 x 42 inch flat screen TVs and 2 blu-rays , Propane BBQ, patio furniture, canoe and 12 foot row boat included in rental price.

Dogs stay for free. There are no extra charges for your furry family member to come join you on vacation.

**2 Dog Maximum**

Just steps to the water's edge there is 150 waterfront where you can soak up the sun on the 40 x 12 deck and dock 12 x 6. The water is clear, with a sandy hard bottom and no weeds which makes it perfect for swimming. The entrance into the water is gradual for the little ones, and deep enough at the end of the dock so the big kids can jump into the water.

Cast your line and you can catch large and smallmouth bass, perch and lake trout right off the dock or use the 12 foot tin boat that is included in the rental.

Private boat launch is just two lots away.

All renters are required to complete an application form and provide Government issued ID.

“Could be better”

Cottage is well equipped and lake is quite nice. However, there was a mice infestation and the cleanliness was poor overall.

Response from the owner Thank you for your review of our cottage, I will admit your review took me by surprised as all our previous guests have had positive experiences. Because it was our first 2/5 comment, and the fact you didn't contact us during your entire week stay. I felt it was necessary to reach out to you personally for further clarification and better understand your specific concerns. In your email you outlined a few items that you felt we could improve on, the kitchen drawers need cleaning, as does the BBQ and deck furniture. The BBQ was absent a wire brush for cleaning the grill. We acknowledge the outdoor furniture may not always be in tip top shape especially since we are surrounded by a mature forest which will drop leaves and other debris from the trees. This can be true if it has been particularly windy or raining that day or the cottage has been vacant for days or weeks between renters. To keep our costs down we do not have outside cleaning maintenance for the deck furniture. A new BBQ brush was placed underneath the BBQ the beginning of Aug, I'm not sure if it was misplaced elsewhere, but we do have spare BBQ brushes available in the laundry room. After a guest's departure my cleaner has between 11am - 4pm until the next guest's arrival. Where at least a minimum of 3 hours is done cleaning/lawn maintenance which is above and beyond how a previous guest may have left the cottage. Sometimes things do get missed in the cleaning process, however we will address drawers also being checked and cleaned, with our cleaner. You also indicated you saw a mouse and droppings on the floor. We take this very seriously and will look at additional means of preventing them from getting in, I will admit it can be rather difficult since we are in cottage country and surrounded by nature but will definitely address the concern. Even Buckingham Palace has mice! Again, I appreciate your feedback and will look to ways to improve the experience for future guests. Thank you

Response from the owner I’m so sorry to hear about your experience with us. I’m pleasantly surprised that the first time you’ve mentioned any issues during your stay is after I rated you a 4 our 5 for cleanliness. You stayed at our cottage from May 30 – June 1, and it wasn’t until your departure date that you actually contacted me. You contacted me because you could not locate the landfill pass, even in that correspondence there was no mention of any issues during your stay. It is not until after my host review you experienced any issues during your stay. The rating 4 out 5 was given because the cleaning list provided was not completed in its entirety. Dishes were left in the dishwasher, which is noted on the cleaning list that they need to been returned to the cupboards. In addition, the floors needed to be swept and mopped as they were not cleaned properly. Seeing as these items were not completed on the cleaning list, I could have charged you $125 for the additional cleaning that was required after your stay, but choose not to charge you. Aside from those items, I feel a 4 out of 5 rating is justified. All other ratings I gave you were 5 out of 5. This is a first complaint I’ve ever received about the bunkbeds making a noise. The bunkbeds are handmade and in fact our previous guests love the fact they are sturdy and can accommodate adults because of the custom extra long single and double mattresses on them. Unfortunately, the time of season you arrived is black fly season. You can blame us for not informing you that it is black fly season, but travelers also need to shoulder some of that responsibility to research the areas they travel. I can compare that to travelling during hurricane season and blaming the hotel a hurricane happened during your stay. The patio furniture and deck are exposed to the outdoor eliminates which would explain for the accumulation of debris between renters. Insects, leaves, fallen branches and tree pollen can accumulate and especially with our raining season appears that more debris than normal has fallen from the trees. Prior to your arrival, I personally inspected the cottage on May 22, both inside and out and they were clean. The oven was inspected on May 22 and the condition was fine as it was previously cleaned on May 4 using the self cleaning feature. If the outdoor patio furniture and deck was left filthy, then I apologize. We do not run our cottage as a resort, nor do we have staff 24/7 to maintain the premises 24/7. Having staff 24/7 would result in higher costs to our guests, and we would rather keep our costs low so more families have the opportunity to enjoy the cottage. We wish you all the best.
