Brilliant

Has a brilliant time here in gites de cabardes. The weather was good but not so scorching that we werent able to do anything. There was a bit of a breeze which was good whilst we were around the pool. The te;p of the water was around 30 deg which suited us down to the ground. The area has lots to offer and of course we went into Carcassonne as sell as seeing a cathar castle and just beautiful countryside. The gite was clean, well equipped and had everything we needed. Jenny was very helpful with booking and recommending restaurants and we enjoyed a glass of local wine with her. … see more

Carcassonne Penthouse in the heart of Bastide

Very nice apartment in Carcassonne

The penthouse is large with 2 good bedrooms and a bunk room. The living areas are spacious and the outdoor terrace is great. Right in the old town of Carcassonne close to all amenities. Underground secure parking is close by and is not expensive at 8 euros a day. It's also easy to get in and out of town. A great option to use as a base to see the surrounding area. It's a nice 20-25 minute walk to the castle. Please note the better Carcasonne restaurants are in the castle. Don't miss the river walk if you stay awhile it's on the way to the castle - quite lovely. … see more

Les Cypres

A lovely peaceful place to stay

We've stayed at les Cypres a number of times, in all seasons, and keep returning. The house is charming - traditional and simple, but with all neccessary amenities. We particularly like sitting and eating on the sunny balcony, overlooking the big, quiet garden. The village of Caunes-Minervois is most attractive and interesting. There are strolls through medieval streets with renaissance houses,the Romanesque abbey,river, little market, a cafe under huge plane trees to relax in,and we enjoyed the one very good restaurant.You can walk nearby through the vineyards or in the Montagne Noire, and further away there is the pretty village of Minerve, and the spectacular Cathar castles.Gill and Cei are very welcoming hosts, both friendly,generous and very helpful,and unobtrusive too. Home away from home.

On arrival the house was well set up with made up beds. There were only two of us and we had plenty of space to spread out and relax. The village is very quaint and interesting with narrow winding streets and lanes. There are sufficient shops to get by and a fabulous restaurant called Hotel d'Alibert We enjoyed watching the grapes being taken in to be made into wine at a small local winery opposite the house.
