Skaneateles NYGood choice for Emerald Isle vacation
Left on 11/12/2012 for a stay in October 2012
I have stayed at Pebble Beach on vacations for many years in different condos there. Emerald Isle is one of the lesser known of the Outer Banks of North Carolina and a great place for families. Most units are rented, but some owners live there year round. I particularly like Pebble Beach Condos because of their amenities--all units are walking distance to the beach; a few are ocean-view and/or ocean-front. There are two outdoor pools, one indoor pool, tennis courts, a small fitness room, and WiFi, cable, and phones for local calls are available in each unit. Condos can have 1, 2, or 3 bedrooms, and all units have washers and dryers. I've always been impressed with the care taken with the landscaping throughout this complex.
Pros: A-303 has a spectacular ocean view and also overlooks one of the pools. It is tough walking up the three flights of stairs to this unit (no elevators here), but the view is worth the hike. It is nicely decorated, looks freshly painted, and is very neat and clean. The kitchen seems to have everything one might need for the week. The kids' room (twin beds) is cute and colorful, and has board games and some toys in the closet of that room.
Downsides: The condo walls at Pebble Beach are very thin-could be a problem if you have noisy neighbors. But generally, most guests there are fairly respectful of others. This unit could use some updating, especially in furniture and electronics (needs large flat screen in living room) and balcony slider screens. A La-Z-Boy type chair is needed in the living room to put your feet up. The deck furniture on the ocean side deck should be replaced with those with higher seating, so your view is the ocean and not the top railing.
That said, I would still recommend a-303 as a good rental condo for a vacation. I would stay there again; I did not want to leave! Check out the NC aquarium on the island. Kudos to the rental managers, Emerald Isle Realty, who were friendly and helpful.

Thank you for your review of your stay at Pebble Beach A-303. I'm so pleased to know that you enjoyed your time in Emerald Isle and plan to return to the Pebble Beach condos.
I agree, the views from the upper level are the best and make the hike to the top worth it. I'll happily pass on your suggestion about the deck furniture.
Thank you again for your feedback. Please call us when you begin making plans for your next Emerald Isle vacation - 1-888-832-0140. -

I did a review about two weeks ago and stated how disappointed I was with the response to taking care of the issue with the ants and commode in the guest bath. All the personnel at the rental office were wonderful.

The Porch furniture is cheap plastic and in desperate need of being replaced and updated. I know it has not been replaced in nearly ten years, and with such low chairs, the entire view is obstructed by the deck railing. Updates are needed in baths, and basin is really dirty and dingy looking as well as fixtures. This is a very nice unit with an awesome view. Dishwasher did not clean dishes at all, and dishes were put away dirty upon our arrival as well as eating utensils...yuk. Ice maker did not work at all, and ice trays in freezer were stained yellow and needed replaced, which EI was very prompt in replacing upon our arrival date. Television is ancient and very small, and no tvs in secondary bedrooms. Foot stole in living room was ripped and torn and also needed replaced. It appears as though this unit has a great potential with some updating and TLC! Pebble beach is a wonderful place to stay!

Akron, OhioNice condo with a great view!
Left on 08/16/2011 for a stay in August 2011
The view is really very nice and worth the haul up the stairs. You can see both the pool and beach from the balcony on that side. Nice with kids.
The unit is well maintained and clean. It has newer carpeting and furniture in the LR which was quite comfy. It was well laid out and nicely decorated.
The master suite was large. We found the bed to be comfortable for us but not firm. There are sliding doors out to the balcony facing the pool/beach.
The bathrooms are small, but fine. The 2 smaller BRs are only big enough to sleep in or change but fine for kids. These 2 BRs and bath could be closed off from the rest of the condo with a door. A nice feature. There are only 2 TVs. One is in the LR and one in the master suite. Both are old style 19" or smaller. There was a DVD player and small stereo system in the LR we never used. There was a nice size dining table and chairs that could easily seat six for dining and game playing.
The air conditioning worked well but was very uneven. The master was comfortable while the other two BRs were usually freezing.
The open kitchen was small but functional. There was a nice toaster, microwave, and coffee pot. Appliances were newer. The fridge did not close correctly so the door popped open and the dishwasher door didn't latch properly. Ei fixed the problems the same day. There were plenty of dishes, serving bowls, glasses, silverware, etc. Pots and pans were adequate as long as you aren't planning to cook like a gourmet. There was a lack of decent kitchen knives and a lack of some basic cooking and serving utensils. For example, we had to go buy a ladle, wooden spoons, and basic barbecue tongs for grilling. We made due with what ever else was there.
It is on the small side so the only privacy would be in the bedrooms. We were 2 adults and 3 teenagers. Any more people and it would have felt too crowded, even if you used the sofa bed.
Overall, this is a great condo and we would choose to stay here again.

Left on 06/17/2011 for a stay in May 2011
We chose Pebble Beach because of being close to the Camp Lejeune. Our oldest is a us Marine and we knew this would be our last chance to have a total family vacation with me. I have 5 sons, Haydn being the oldest. We found Emerald Isle Realty to be outstanding to book thru and the agents were terrific!. The condo was clean, a little outdated on electronics, but the beach is what kept my teenagers, and children's attention more. The beds were the worst part of the whole stay. Our king size bed had a piece of plywood between the mattress and box springs and it made for very unrestful sleep. I had backaches every morning and I also have restless leg syndrome and it exaggerated it terrible. My son who slept in the queen bed had the best bed to sleep in. The twin beds were in need of up grading too. Everything else was wonderful. Just didn't rest well on my week of vacation due to the beds.

The condo we stayed in was well equipped and comfortable. Our only complaints were that the fridge leaked and the icemaker didn't work (which we reported), the Tv's need to be updated to bigger (possibly flat screen), and the wall between the master bedroom and the condo next door was horribly thin. We could hear every word next door, snooring, etc. Perhaps add some sound proofing? Overall, our stay was excellent, and we would choose the same condo again for our next stay. Thanks to the homeowners for keeping such a nice place - stocked with games, toys, linens, dishes, stereo, a gorgeous view, etc!

The view from this condo was amazing and it was a comfortable week. However, the utensils and appliances could use some updating. There are no knives that actually work as a cutting implement, they were all very old and dull. In addition, my only complaint about the appliances was the dishwasher, which may in part be due to the "Emerald Isle Water", but dishes were never fully clean when coming out of the diswasher. We had some issues upon check in, mainly that the hot water had a horrific smell and the air conditioning was not working, but the realty staff and maintenance staff were wonderful in assuring those issues were fixed by the end of day one. I love the pebble beach community, the pools are beautiful and well maintained and you cannot beat the location and proximity to the ocean.

The unit was pretty child friendly. We put away some shells which were out for decoration and we were ready to go. Looks there are some toys that live there and DVD player and VHS. Unit could use a refurb, but we really enjoyed it.

The condo was a bit dated but it was clean and had a wonderful view of the ocean. I was a comfortable and very nice. Check in was confusing and luckly I called to ask about arriving late. If you arrive late you have to go across the street to the police dept to get a key. That is fine but they need to tell you those things ahead of time. I found that the real-estate company forgot to tell you the details. Like how to get in the pool and use the pass etc. The one thing that got to me was my son who is a Marine. He had just gotten back from a 7 month deployment and he need to stay 2 extra hours in the condo and it cost him $75 to be able to do that. Any of you in the service knows that $75 is a lot of money. But it did not matter, he had to pay. I wish I made $37.50 an hour

Thank you for your review. We certainly appreciate your son's service to our Country and I'm happy that you enjoyed your stay at Pebble Beach A303. I agree, the views are wonderful!
I'm sorry to hear that you were confused by our check in/out process. After making your reservation, you should have received our Vacation Information Guide along with your contract. While we do summarize the check in and check out times and processes at the time of reserving a property, we also send a detailed guide which does address late arrival and the instructions for check in and out.
As for the late check out and the fee which is incurred, this is because on any given weekend, our very busy housekeeping staff has almost 700 vacation rentals to turn from lived in to ready for the next guest's arrival. We prefer to schedule a late check out ahead of time so housekeeping can work their schedule around it. The $75 fee is charged for this convenience as it does require a lot of shifting in the cleaning schedule. I'm sorry if this offended you.
Thank you again for taking the time to provide us with feedback. -

This was our first stay at Pebble Beach and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Check-in and check-out was a breeze. Beautiful ocean view also overlooking the outdoor pool. Clean and very well stocked kitchen. Everything was clean and tidy. Lots of games for the evenings and rainy days. A few things we noticed: 1) Hot water could have been a little hotter but it may have been set to protect children from getting scalded. 2) No ironing board or iron (OK, it's the BEACH!) 3) Dustpan but no broom. That's about it. Will stay again!

Nice, roomy condo with fantastic views of the ocean and pool. We loved the pool and tennis courts, and the ocean was perfect. There were waves but not too high, and sandy, pristine beaches. We loved the great price and beach. We didn't love the longer ride from NJ, but our 4 kids agreed that it was well worth it. We have already reserved our spot for next year.
