We have rented condos or houses many times on the coast of NC but this was the most trouble free pleasant stay we have had, either on the Outer Banks or Crystal Coast. The reservation, check-in & check-out were very smooth. There were no issues we needed to call maintenance to resolve, info was readily available for the WiFi & other amenities. We had lots of resources to the surrounding entertainment, restaurants & business facilities. The condo was completely equipped & casual beach decorating made us feel comfortable, not to mention the views of the ocean & relaxing sounds of the surf!

Upside: Fantastic view, roomy unit, decent basic furnishings, clean. Downsides: Uncomfortable beds, need to drag luggage up stairs. Cannot lock beach side door with key, so to go to beach must leave through parking lot side door and walk around building (really only a minor inconvenience.) Repeated unannounced interruptions/walk-ins by prospective tenants, maintenance people, others during stay.

I was laid off in april this year. We weren't sure if we could afford vacation. We chose last week before our sons had to go to school in the Pittsburgh area. We stayed at Pier Pointe last 2 years and specifially wanted 1 a-3 again this year. The view is "fantastic"... it is breathtaking. Accomdations were the same "except" a little frustrating that the 2 Twins were traded out for a full size bed. Our teenage sons did not want to sleep together.. thus we needed the pullout which affected the rest who wanted to stay up and enjoy the "living area". Also, we unclear as to the linens as no bag or instructions were provided this year.

I am sorry to hear of the confusion with the linen service. Because Pier Pointe 1 A 3 offers the convenience of having your beds already made when you arrive, a bag isn't left. When beds are made, we don't ask that you strip them at the end of your stay because the linen company will do this for you so there is no need for the bag. Great place to stay. Third floor is a bit of a hike but welcome excersize to help overcome vacation "diet". Central location makes getting to dining and other activities easy.

Pier Pointe 1 a-3 needs a new stove and dryer. The stove top coils didn't always heat up properly unless you shook the coils to make a good connection. The dryer took 2 to 3 cycles to dry clothes.
We were disappointed to find out later that the property sits right beside the public beach access. If you are looking for a quiet place with less people on the beach, this isnt the place for you. However, nice place with a great view of the ocean.Response from Emerald Isle Realty, Inc - 08/19/2011

The location was perfect. The condo was very nice, roomy, comfortable and beach front!. That was the best part. The price was cut in half for September and the ocean was warm and beautiful. We did hit the week of the tropical depression and had lots of wind and rain the last 3 days of our stay but... that allowed for reading, knitting and relaxing. That was why we were there!

Very nice location but the condo needs some upgrading to closet doors that don't open and close. No nice matching wine glasses. Table ware in poor condition and the place was dirty. We moved the sofabed and it was disgusting.

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised to find that what we had seen on the internet exceeded our expectations. This would be a wonderful place to take a family. The kitchen was well equipped and we could have cooked anything there. It was also very clean. It was equipped with beach chairs, umbrella, and bogey boards. We had friends that came and stayed overnight and they also loved it. (The only reason I wouldn't recommend it is because when we go back I want that week to be available!) Kudos to the owners and also Emerald Isle Realty. Thank you for a wonderful vacation experience.

Loved the location. only concerns....bedding---the sheets didn't fit the twin beds. I called and explained our problem...a delivery was made for one twin bed with the exact size sheets we already had. (The fitted sheets were much too small for the mattresses) I called back and explained our situation and asked for flat sheets or regular size sheets and never had any response to that call. Also the cookware in this condo was mostly deplorable. My son also thought it was time to update the tv.

Kitchen & bathrooms were nice sized but needed some updating. Bedrooms were nicely sized and closets are plentiful. Dishes in kitchen were put away dirty and there were hardly enough glasses.

One of the things I love about Emerald Isle is its location between New Bern, Moorehead City and Beufort. You are able to visit the sea ports, take in a little history, stroll the quaint streets, enjoy delicious seafood and have fun in the sun all while visiting the beach at Emerald Isle! -

The condo was very well maintained and clean. I would like to see a little better pans and skillets.( teflon was peeling) The beach was nice and clean and the water was "emerald". We had a wonderful week relaxing on the beaches and in the jacuzzi. The views were great! We would not hesitate to recommend this unit to friends.

We enjoyed our stay. Our boys had a blast. The unit was nicely decorated and clean. Bring your own beach chairs. The ones in unit are not in good condition. Also carpet coming up in one spot in the hall and DVD player in kids room was not working. Still very nice and enjoyable place to stay.

As described when we arrived to your housekeeping representative Ann:
The unit was dirty on arrival, kitchen and living rooms were both cleaned by my wife. We have no vacuum, she had to use a broom and pan. The living room looked like someone moved a plant and dumped some dirt, the kitchen area was cleaned prior to me seeing it.
Described mechanical issues with the back and front screen doors, door facing ocean is leaning, needs to be lifted to close. Door facing parking lot has extender on bottom, made of vinyl/plastic on entry to the unit caught on my foot tilted about 45 degrees (very week, may need to be replaced.) Refrigerator having issues, turned to coldest setting to make it cold. Also indicated the ceiling in the master bathroom was missing paint/ceiling material.
Results of issues brought to your attention.
Cleaning - No one to my knowledge came.
Doors - Kids say someone showed up with an oil can, had no idea what the issues were was prepared to oil the doors.
Refrigerator - your repair man found refrigerator set to coldest setting, turned it back. (we then set it back to where it worked)
Ceiling in unit - Kids indicated repair man would be back after we left.

As for the refrigerator, it is to be kept at the middle setting as lowering it will actually freeze it up and cause it to malfunction. Often when guests arrive, they feel the refrigerator isn't cooling. This is because of the time it is left open by both the previous guests and current guests. Normally, within twenty four hours the refrigerator will recover its coolness.

We stayed at Pier Point and had a wonderful time. This spot offers great access to the beach and also has great access to the pool. It has ample parking and this location provides shopping within limited miles. The condo is very clean and is amply furnished. I would recommend to anyone.
I have only one complaint. The linen service. We had a queen size bed in one of the rooms. The service had given us two packages that were noted queen size bed. Neither fitted sheet in either package fit the bed. It was too small. We had to use a flat sheet to substitute for a fitted sheet. It was inconvienent. -

This condominium had a breathtaking view of the ocean, just beautiful. It is however in need of some updates and refurbishing. The jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom had rust around the jets, so we were not able to use it. Also, the furnishings and bedding were a little tired looking.
When we were leaving, our son forgot a soccer jacket that he had gotten on a recent trip to Holland hanging in the closet in the second bedroom. Although we called and reported this promptly, (the day after), somehow, it was never returned to us. This was very dissapointing to us, since clearly the cleaning service had to have found it. It's not only the monetary value of it, but the fact that he will not be returning to Holland in the near future and will therefore not be able to replace it.
I have to say that although this was not the deciding factor, it did influence our decision to not return this year.
Prior to that, our experiences with the places we rented through Emerald Isle Realty had always been positive, so much so, that we have brought several friends and family down with us who would not have otherwise found you. We are less likely to recommend you as freely since our last experience.] -
