  Beautiful Complex - Not So Great Unit

  First let me start out by saying that we have vacationed on Emerald Isle for over 30 years and we positively love it! Our hope is to someday retire here. We have been past guests at Ocean Reef on five separate occasions staying in different units over the years. Our experience has always been delightful and the accomodations outstanding, however I have to say that this year we were disappointed with unit 10B2. First off, you could not open any windows as they were all screwed shut and the double doors that open to the ocean side deck only opened on one side (again screwed shut)and had no screen in the door that opened. We also had issues with the stove, it is very unlevel so making things like fried eggs was a real challenge. The shower in the master suite has the showerhead set so high that I could not use it, however the second bath shower worked just fine for me. The chairs on the ocean side deck are low and comfy, however the table that is on the deck has no chairs (others to low for table height) so we could not have any meals on the deck which was a disapointment. All in all we will probably stay again at Ocean Reef, however we will avoid unit 10B2.

  We had a great time at Emerald Isle this year! Ocean Reef 10-B-2 is a beautiful condominium with plenty of space and nice amenities. I especially liked the fact that it's a top floor condo, so you don't hear people running around in the condo above you and the deck is exposed to uninterrupted sunlight. The oceanfront location is tremendous. The view from the back deck, the nearness of the ocean, the sounds and smells of the surf are so relaxing and hypnotic!
  
  My family and I have visited Emerald Isle several times now and we've only ever stayed at the Ocean Reef properties. I don't see a reason to stay anywhere else, since it has always been enjoyable there. Emerald Isle Realty is a great organization -- they do everything so well: easy online reservations & payment, promptly emailed confirmation, transmittal of contracts for signature, convenient telephone communication for any follow-up questions, friendly staff. Whatever is most convenient for the customer is OK, whether it's regular mail, online, email, fax, etc. I appreciate that.
  
  Other niceties: linens were provided at 10-B-2, so no special arrangements had to be made about that. The community pool is very nice, although we used it more when the kids were little. The local restaurants and grocery store and gift shops are an easy drive (2 or 3 miles away maybe). Morehead City and Swansboro are a little further away, but worth the trip. Fort Macon is interesting if you're a Civil War or history buff.
  
  I should mention that the building that 10-B-2 is in is adjacent to the public beach, but that was not necessarily a negative. The people who visited the public beach seemed to be mostly families with young children and not rowdy in the least. Very considerate and polite from my observations.
  
  Finally, Emerald Isle in general (and Ocean Reef in particular) has a very family-oriented, quiet atmosphere about it. No wild parties and craziness going on that I ever witnessed. We love E.I.!!!!!!!

  Would stay again

  I loved the house on the beach! Although a hurricane off coast made
  the water too rough we had a great time. I love the area and the
  ability to visit nearby sites. The unit was relatively clean. I think it
  would be a bit more appealing if the bedspreads/linens were updated
  and the cleaning was a bit more thorough.

  THE STAY IN THIS HOME WAS WONDERFUL. ONLY ONE THING,WHEN WE FIRST ARRIVED IT DIDN'T SEEM NEWLY CLEANED. WE CALLED THE MANAGEMENT AND THEY CAME QUICKLY AND CLEANED IT AGAIN TO OUR SPECIFICATION. NO OTHER PROBLEM AFTER THAT. EARLY MAY TENDS TO BE A BIT WINDY SO WE DIDN'T SPEND MUCH TIME ON THE BEACH, WE DID SPEND MORE TIME AT THE POOL. THE LOCATION WAS GREAT. SO RELAXING, AND THAT IS WHAT WE WERE AFTER. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

  Relaxation!!

  We stayed in this condo for a wonderful week. Plenty of space for 2 adults and 2 kids. Kitchen was well equiped. We spent many nights on the deck overlooking the oceanfront, and listening to the waves crash. Beautifully decorated; good layout. Located within good range of excellent restaurants, mini golf for the kids, and Bogue Inlet Pier for fishing. Highly recommend!
