Overall we liked the rental and have reserved it for next year. The bedrooms and having 3 bathrooms are great. The living room/dining room/kitchen are adequate.
The decks all around are badly in need of replacement. Biggest negative is that covered deck leaks and could not be used when raining and we had more than average rain the 3 weeks we were there. Would be nice to have a door on the separation between covered decks to facilitate access to other side when our friends rent Westwind.Response from Emerald Isle Realty, Inc - 03/26/2013

I'm pleased to let you know that when you arrive for your vacation in 2013 you will find that the decks are new. The owner of this duplex has been hard at work replacing both the upper and lower decks and they should be complete by mid April. We look forward to your stay with us!

It was not the Holiday Inn Express, But it was Us! We were very comfortable,It is an older house, everything was not perfect, but our Vacation was!

We pretty much knew what we were in for because of what we saw in the pictures. Our reason for choosing to stay at Eastwind was because my sister and her husband's extended family were staying in the house next door. Friends of ours stayed in Westwind (the other half of this duplex). The # of bedrooms and bathrooms as well as the bed sizes worked for us. (Some of the beds were rather uncomfortable.) The home itself probably hasn't changed since it was built in 1984. Everything is very dated. You definitely are paying for the location. That being said, everything about the house was sufficient...but nothing to get excited about.

The bathrooms need updating and the deck, although nice size,was missing a rail and steps seemed shaky in places. Beds were comfortable. Oven did not work after the first night and we had to go next door. A compensation in rental cost would have been appreciated. Water in ice maker was discolored and we bought ice.

This is a lovely property in a great location. The split level layout was perfect for our blended guests. Beds and furniture are comfortable and the house had almost everything we needed. One note...a guestbook would be a nice touch.

The rental property was excellent. We enjoyed the ocean view and the proximity to the beach. The duplex had everything we needed such as kitchen utensil, televisions, etc. We liked the property itself.
What we didn't like was the fact that Emerald Isle didn't have great facilities such as a variety of restaurants or adult entertainment.
We also could not sit on the balcony after dark because the mosquitoes would "eat you alive"...
