Northern VANice location
Left on 04/18/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We really enjoyed our stay at Heron Crescent. It is in a great location between the inter-coastal and the ocean. Both are very accessible. Heron Crescent is clean with some very nice upgrades. The kitchen in particular is beautiful. However, to go from downstairs to upstairs (or vice versa) you have to use the outside stairs. This might be good for some families but with children it was not optimum for us. The carpet throughout most of the house was white berber -- it was stained and needs to be replaced. Many of the light switches are frustrating as we could not figure out how to turn on some of the lights. We enjoyed our stay and we love Emerald Isle but will choose another location on our next visit.

I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed your time in Emerald Isle while staying at Heron Crescent, but I'm sorry that the layout didn't work well for your family. This is a fantastic home that provides a great location on our island, but we do manage an array of homes so please call us when you begin planning your next Emerald Isle vacation and one of our vacation planners will be happy to find a home with a floor plan that will suit the needs of your family - 1-888-832-0140.

My fiancée and I had originally rented august Moon Teahouse. Due to obtrusive construction next door, we were generously relocated to Heron Crescent. The sound-side location is superb, highlighted by the private dock off the back porch. We watched the sunset every night from either the porch or dock--it was gorgeous! The ocean is literally across the street and the portion of beach was uncrowded and serene. The house was obviously very large for two people, but we had a perfect stay and are hoping to bring friends and family back to Heron Crescent with us next time! Thank you, Sabrina and Emerald Isle Realty for a magical engagement week!

The furniture is comfortable, the ambiance is nice. The location is fantastic for us, close to the other cottage where family stays.
The dock needs cleats so I can tie up my boat.
The glasses were coated with water deposits, so we had to soak them in vinegar to remove it.
We had a great time and intend to return next year.
We love Emerald Isle as a vacation spot.

The best part of this home is by far the view. As soon as you come around the side of the home to enter it the view gets you. We loved the pier. Fishing was great. The sunset views were the best.

Damascus, MarylandDelightful sound vistas and boating.
Left on 08/29/2010 for a stay in August 2010
We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is clean and well furnished. Viewing the sound from the screened porch is a highlight, especially at night. We also kept our sailboat at the dock and loved sailing from there. We had several family dinners there (we rent 3 cottages for that week) and had a blast.
There were only 2 shortcomings: The kitchen needs some additional tools (eg, measuring cups, spoons, etc) for preparing large meals. Also it would be nice if there were some cleats on the dock. -

Great family place with nice dock on the sound for fishing, crabbing, boating, and just talking.
Super sunsets over the sound.
Separate apartment on the ground level was fantastic for the older kids and visitors. Gave them privacy and feeling of their own place.
Easy walk to the beach and our vacation week came with perfect weather.
We'll stay at Heron Crescent again for sure. -

We have been having bi-annual familly reunions at Emerald Isle for 30 years. This house looks a little tired from the outside but inside has all been redone. Very comfortable beds and furniture. Nice well apointed kitchen. Beautiful sunsets from the screened porch. Great dock with good crabbing right off the end. Good for kayaks and jet skis except at extreme low tide. Very short walk to the beach with access path right across the street. The outdoor shower works great but is visble from 3 houses and the main road so it could use a privacy screen. We would definately rent this home again.

Spending the evening sipping gin and tonics while lazing in tire tubes tied to the pier. Summer doesn't get much better. We have rented homes through Emerald Isle Realty for many years and their service is excellent in every way. We kayak, so have always been attracted to homes on the sound. Having tasted the selection, we always come back to Heron Crescent, a house which best meets our extended family's needs. Clean and tastefully decorated, it's a pleasure inside and out. After the pier, the covered screen porch is the biggest plus, where meals are eaten, sunsets watched, books read, conversations shared. The kitchen and grill keeps the professional chef and ameuter cooks happy, although some larger pots and pans would be helpful to feed the number that the house accomodates. The detached downstairs allow adult children the space they need.
We love our vacations at Heron Crescent so much that this year we had planned on staying two weeks. So what a surprise it was in January to discover that the cost had gone up $400/week. On one hand, I'm sure your expenses had increased but, on the other hand, the market for rentals was very slow. The booking agent said that, since we had rented Heron Crescent in the past, she would contact the owner to discuss a reduced rate. When she didn't get back to me, I talked to another agent who said it was too early to talk to the owner. We decided to reserve for only one week. Seeing that the house has been reserved for very few weeks this season, I only hope that someone did actually contact the owner and that it was indeed the owner's decision to hold out for more money.
The week there was everything one wish for as far as beach vacations go. Unfortunately, the increase in rent is beyond what we are comfortable paying for the house and the decision was made that this was our last year.
Thanks for the wonderful memories. -

This house is absolutely beautiful! The kitchen is such a nice touch.
The views of the sound are breath taking. Just a quick walk to the
beach. Love the screened in porch, and the living room furniture is
very comfy! The apartment downstairs is great for a young couple or
older teens. The only recommendation we have is the deck rails are
starting to show some wear, didn't both us too much, we didn't have
small kids with us, but may be an issue for families with small
children. We will definitely stay here again. Thanks for sharing your
beautiful home. -

After school starts back up the prices really drop, especially on the sound side. The house was absolutely great. The only complaint I had was that there are not many places to eat on the island. I was planning on going again in the summer of 2008 but the bad economy forced me to rethink that. I hope to go to Emerald Isle again and rent the same house.

We rented the house for 3 families coming in from out of town to attend our son?s wedding. Absolutely wonderful, comfortable house, plenty of parking, clean, well-kept, an excellent bargain. Watch Herons and Egrets from the back porch and pier. A super property.

This house is located on the sound side of Emerald Isle. It has a great pier and we kept canoes and kayaks right there to launch off. The beach is a very short walk away with the beach access ramp directly across from the house. The only drawback to the house is the bottom level is only accessed by going outside - no direct access from the main floor. I would definitely stay at this property again.
