We arrived at Second Wind and was blown away.
We walked in and could see the waves right through he entry. Absolutely beautiful. So refreshing.
It was exactly what we were expecting.
Each of the rooms were large, clean and inviting. The beds were soft and comfortable. The great room was perfect for our family gatherings and together with the kitchen and dining area, we were able to wine and dine like it was our own home. Perfect.
We are definitely looking to book again.

We (my wife, myself, and another couple) found this home while searching the Emerald Isle Realty website. We were thinking of inviting other friends to vacation with us and were looking for a home with enough room so that we would not be in each others business while having plenty of space to spread out and enjoy ourselves. It turned out that 4 other couples decided to join us requiring us to get a home big enough for 6 adult couples and this home fit the bill perfectly. After having a bit of trouble booking on-line I called Emerald Isle Realty and within 5 minutes I had a vacation home for the week and in less than an hour had all the booking and travel info I needed by e-mail...it was way too easy. When we arrived at the home we were blown away by the size. The oceanfront, open concept living area was perfect for all of us socializing very comfortably and there was plenty of space to go and be alone also. The large double decks, with chairs and rockers, were perfect for enjoying coffee or a glass of wine while watching th e sun rise and set. The bedrooms were all large and comfortable, including the beds, and very soundproof. This house is also very well equipped with a huge full kitchen and a large grilling patio under the house. The home is centrally located on EI and about 2 miles from stores and restaurants. The best part about this home is the space and comfort it affords a large group to move around in and the views of the ocean from almost every area. The only downside to this home is that there are a lot of stairs and moving in and out with luggage can be somewhat laboring; also all the wood decks are in need of updating as there are nails popping up and splinters to be had if not cautious. Our group would highly recommend this home and would definetly come back and stay here again.

We long said that we had found the perfect beach in Emerald Isle. This is (almost) the perfect beach house. It is comfortable and very nice without being "too nice" that families are afraid to stay here with kids. However, the house and porch/deck are beginning to look shopworn. We had lots of popped nails and broken/weakened chairs and stools. The sliding glass door has always required muscle, but this year it moaned where the wind was coming in. The matress in the master bedroom on the ground floor perhaps needs to be replaced. I know that they are a bonus, but the beach chairs are in bad shape. The hot tub kind of scares me. We just feel that the owners of the house need to repair and replace some things. As much as we love this house and would like to continue to rent it, unless there is some repair and updating, we are looking for a better value for our money.

This is our second time staying at the Second Wind and we enjoyed it just the same this summer. The house is not only beautiful and well-equiped but the room sizes are amazing and allowed for everyone to have ample room. It was clean and had everything we needed not to mention a wonderful view of the ocean!

This is the third time we have rented from Emerald Isle and each time has been a very good experience. This year we needed a larger place to stay and Second Wind fit perfectly with our family. The house was very clean, and we had no problems at all. We hope to come back next year and enjoy the beautiful beach and relaxation.

My family and I stayed at Second Wind at Emerald Isle for a week this summer and it was one of the best vacations yet. The house had large open living spaces downstairs offering plenty of room for the 11 of us which was a mix of adults, teens, children and a toddler. The decor was very nice and the bedrooms and the multiple master suites with their own deck access were the final selling point for us. The only unfavorable thing was the plentiful stair steps in and outside of the house. If you're not used to a home having steps, climbing these several times a day can be a challenge. I do recommend the house to those interested in an upscale vacation home that will comfortably accommodate a large group and that is conveniently located within the Emerald Isle township.

We came back to this house after trying several others on other parts of
Emerald Isle and at other beaches. This is, by far, our best house experience.
The house is extremely well-kept and clean. It is loaded with supplies for fun
on the beach (check out the storage room under the house). The direct access
to beach is excellent and the main floor is laid out just right (washer/dryer
here, plenty of shared space for two families, a covered deck to provide great
shade and an even greater view, and a well-furnished kitchen). The only
downside I can think of is true of almost all beach houses: it was difficult to
resist the impulse to CLEAN the kitchen better when we arrived. We found
dirty dishes and grimy, slimy stuff in the drawers. The dining room table was
topped with glass which gave us a clear view of all the gunk that was trapped
beneath it. We also had to unplug the hot-tub because of the racket it made
on the main floor deck, just outside the main floor master. All things
considered we were very happy to be back to this house and will likely return
again (assuming it continues to be kept so well). -

This is a beautiful house with great decks and views. It's a perfect cool weather house complete with hot tub and fireplace. The kitchen has everything you need to feel at home and the house is very kid-friendly.
Our only problem was that the realty company had not prepared the house for our visit...the ice machine wasn't plugged in, the hot tub was barely warm, the fireplace had no propane and the deck furniture was still stored under the house. Six couples spent a week in this marvelous house and it was so great. Very nice to unpack and stay in one place for that many nights. It was also great to be able to bring only food and clothes and have everything else furnished. We hope to come back in another year. By coming toward the end of September, the rent per couple was very reasonable.
We would recommend this property to any large group. -

Our family has enjoyed Thanksgiving with Emerald Isle Realty for years and years. This year we had "an experience of a lifetime" as we stayed at an extraordinary home ! It far surpassed any expectation. Our daughter was married at Emerald Isle in September, so we were all ready for a more "relaxing" experience at the beach -- and we had it !
Absolutely outstanding. We will always remember Thanksgiving 2008. Everything about this home is first rate. We especially appreciated all being able to gather at the table in the kitchen.
