With this house you get the best of both worlds. You are only a minute from the beach and you have the sound right in your back yard. The deck was the meeting place in the mornings, we all would sit there and look out over the sound and discuss that days plans. The steps leading down to the sound, you had your own private little sandy beach, my grandchildren had the best time this year down on that sandy little beach, (The ocean stayed real ruff all week), so the grandchildren and the adults were able to go into the sound and float and swim and at low tide catch crabs and dig for clams.
the kitchen in this house was one of the best stocked kitchens, I have seen in the fifteen years we have coming to Emerald Isle. The only thing that was a little annoying was the hallway bathroom with only the small shower in it. It was hard to control the water temperature in that shower. But that was a minor problem all of the other bathrooms were fine. The two living areas are also great! The kids could watch TV in one room and adults could watch in the other. The back yard and the enclosed outside shower were great also.

This house has the best location... the sound in the back yard and the beach is a short block away.. was the most comfy clean & peaceful... more than we ever expected... cant wait to visit our 2nd home again... Many thanks

All the Emerald Isle Realty employees...from the folks who booked the reservation to the ladies who checked me in...were just as kind as they could be. I really liked that they encouraged me to call if I had any questions or problems, rather than seeming bothered by the interruption, as so many companies make you feel.
The house was lovely, although there were a few maintenance issues that would make a big difference...such as the first thing you see as you walk up to the front door are hanging, broken window blinds on the front window. I didn't feel comfortable using the cooktop. I had not seen one like it before and the top was broken in a couple of places and there was a red light that was always on. I had planned to cook, but I just didn't feel comfortable using it and I wasn't quite sure how to use it.
There has been some high tides on the sound that has left the beach littered with boards. As these may contain nails, it is a safety hazard for people staying there. It wasn't a problem for me, but I mention it to prevent future guests from being injured.Response from Emerald Isle Realty, Inc - 05/12/2012

The stove was reported to us by a previous guest, but it took a few days to receive the replacement. Certainly, we would have happily sent someone to the property to assist you in using it. I have reported the issue with the blinds and your concern about the boards on the Soundfront. I trust these items will be taken care of in a timely manner.

Nice house,comfortable and clean.The shower curtain rods are spring loaded and should be replaced with proper rods.It's not fun to get hit by these when they come loose.Also clean out the shower heads.The mineral build-up makes them spray everywhere if they spray at all.

The house was nice and spacious, perfect size and location for our needs. The washer and dryer were a nice surprised amenity. When we arrive, there was no hot water, that was fixed in a couple of hours. There was no heat for the first two nights, and those were cold nights. After about a hour on the phone with TWC the problem with the cable was dignosed and we were informed the owner had downgraded and the box will not work in one room. Twc advised use to unplug the box, that way we could get the channel 14 news only on that set.

I am sorry to hear of the issues you experienced during your stay. Unfortunately, when a property first opens for the season, there are some kinks to be worked out. Our maintenance records indicate that the pilot light was the culprit for lack of heat and hot water when you first arrived. I'm glad we were able to get that lit so you could enjoy the majority of your stay.

Was disappointed when we entered a dirty cottage. Don't understand why we were given keys. If we had just been told, we would have gone for something to eat and visited other family who had moved in Sat.
Housekeeping, howver, did a great job when they came. And responded quickly to the ant problem we experienced. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will return to the island for our vacation. -

I had a great time at Soundscape. In fact, so good I am going to do a repeat. This is a great house. It has lots of space. Perfect for teenagers because they can have their own space in the back living room. Kitchen is well stocked. The shaded deck over the sound is wonderful for evenings.

A group of my friends and I spent the week at the beach celebrate my 25th birthday. The house was perfect! Amazing deck to sit at in the evenings, over looking the sound. The beach is about a minute walk. The service was super friendly and the concierge gave us great dining advice. We are discussing going back to the same house at the same time next year!!

We were pleased with the location of the property, the overall look/cleanliness, safety, and distance/access to beach.
We were less than pleased with:
* the beding (most uncomfortable we've ever experienced)
* cooktop in kitchen did not work well - kept cutting off during the cooking process. Once, it even completely shut down and had to be reset at the main switchbox.
* the exhaust/vent hose was not connected to the clothes dryer and exhausted into the house until we pulled the dryer out and properly attached the hose.
* the rental fee was too high relative to what we received. We rented for a week and left two days early --- something we have never done before.Response from Emerald Isle Realty, Inc - 05/15/2011

We stayed at Soundscape for two fall weekends, 2006 and 2007. It
was a getway for the grownups while the kids were on a church
retreat. This is a perfect spot -- gorgeous sound views, very close to
the beach. The house has been updated and remodel and is very cozy
and cute.
We had everything we could want with the outside enclosed shower, a
deck down at the water for afternoon cocktails, and modern amenities
in the house. the house is laid out in an L shape with two dens and a
sunporch so there's lots of room to spread out. Eat in the kitchen or at
the dining room table.
Our kids joined us and we stayed an extra couple of days. There was
room for us all and they loved the sandy soundside beach and shallow
water for exploring. -

My family and I picked out this home because you are able to easily enjoy both the sound and the beach. The home was very well equipped, the furniture was comfortable and the home was spacious. The porch overlooking the sound was wonderful and quite private.
When we arrived though, there were several dead bugs in the house and we refused to take our luggage in until it had been sprayed. This didn't resolve the problem, and we had to call them to come back out and spray the house and yard again.
