Casa de Ambar - outstanding property in the Santiago neighborhood. of Merida.

From a very quiet street in the heart of the Historic Center you are welcomed inside this tastefully appointed home, where you will be greeted by an array of colors, open spaces and the view of a tropical garden.

The dining room, with an antique oval table is connected through a open space to a fully equipped kitchen with a double door American style fridge, microwave, coffee maker, blender and other useful appliances.

After enjoying a meal, you will feel like spending time outdoors as the kitchen opens onto the magnificent, six meters (18 feet) high terrace with a view of the swimming pool and tropical garden surrounded by high stone walls for complete privacy.

The always shaded, colonial style terrace, equipped with 2 hammocks, located at the back of the garden is a perfect place for siesta. The soothing sound of water cascading down the stones provides a completely relaxing atmosphere.

The interior of the house provides equal comfort, with fans in each room and two interior gardens that always bring a fresh breeze of air.

The three spacious bedrooms have large windows and remote controlled air conditioning.

Each bedroom has its own large full bath.

The house also features a garage; a great convenience, although there is also plenty of room for parking on the one way street.

Finally, no need to worry about your laundry as the house has its own laundry room equipped with a new European compact washing machine.

Casa de Ambar is located in one of the oldest parts of Merida, only 3 blocks from Santiago Park, where you will find a 17th century Church and surrounding square. At the local marketplace you can purchase all your fresh fruits and vegetables and enjoy the live band music and dancing every Tuesday night. There is also an IKA supermarket, for all your daily needs, a Pharmacy and plenty of food vendors serving authentic Yucatecan cuisine.

Within six blocks, or 15 minutes walking distance, is Merida's Main Square (Plaza Grande) with its famous Cathedral, Municipal Palace and most of the museums, galleries, fine restaurants, theaters, shopping, nightlife and live music and dancing every weekend.

There are two 18 hole golf courses north of the City: Club de Golf at La Ceiba and the Jack Nicklaus designed Yucatan Country Club.

The beaches of the Gulf of Mexico are only 30 minutes away.

To make your stay more enjoyable the house is managed by "Gone South" professional property management. They are able to provide valuable information for any travel related questions (insider city tips, restaurants, medical referral questions, etc.). “Fabulous Place!”

Great location - only about a 10 minute walk to the square. Beautiful inside and so nice to have the pool. Very clean, ac in every room, well equipped kitchen. I will definitely stay here again!

Response from the owner The property changed ownership the day before these guests arrived and it was our understanding from the previous owner that there were only 2 guests, not 4, and that the 3rd bedroom referred to would not be used or we would have made arrangements to have A/C installed in that room. It has since been installed and all 3 bedrooms are now air conditioned.
