“God's Oasis” My family and I just arrived back from our stay @ Casa Hacienda about a week ago. However the memories and visions of paradise are still so fresh in our minds we still feel as though we are there. Mattias was amazingly helpful right from the start answering all of questions promptly numerous times & really took the time to make sure we understood everything. Greatly appreciated... El Cuyo it self is a very tiny fishing village in what seems like the middle of no ware.. However, it is the essence of beauty and its beaches/water pristine. Only time we saw other people "Tourists" was during the weekend of Easter and it was only for 2 days due to the festival they have their yearly.. Truly an amazing party and glad we were able to experience it. Other than those 2 days the beaches were all ours. Casa Hacienda was perfect for my family as we have two teenage boys and a young daughter. We chose to rent the entire house as it comes with a king bed in one room w attached bath, and another room with 2 twin beds and attached bath. There is aC if it is too hot. Two T.V.'s and DVD players, as well as fully furnished with all cooking/eating materials. The house was perfect in all regards... Truly miss sitting on the front porch in the hammock with a Sol in my hand. Highly recommend renting a car so that you may travel an hr or so in different directions and see the wonders of Yucatan that lie an 1hr or so away. Cenotes, & Pyramids are breathtaking. Remiga & here family are the best... if we had room in our bags I am sure we would have taken them home with us. She took care of every need or question we had and make the best food around. You must try her fish!!! She constantly made us feel like family.. I highly recommend this area and this casa to anyone who is looking for the best beaches without all the people & hustle and bustle. Its ruff, rare & divine, making it a magical and memorable Gem you must experience. Go now!!! The Hargreaves Family.

1Bedroom Beachfront Casa Maya Lodge Cabana Robinson Crusoe style for adventurer
Atmosphere fostered a sense of "just being".

Our three week stay at Casa Maya Lodge was extraordinary to say the least. It began with our cheerful host, Mattias, greeting us at the Cancun airport at 8 pm and chauffeuring us to our comfortable hotel the " ibis" which he suggested because there was a super market and pharmacy at it's base with currency exchange and shopping within walking distance and it's reasonably priced. Upon arrival in El Cuyo it was obvious that this small fishing village 2 hours NW of Cancun was quaint, quiet and safe. The accommodations were very adequate, charming with its thatched roof and rustic interior and afforded a superb vista of the Gulf and beach 3 stories below. The north facing private veranda afforded adequate sun and shade allowing for personal sunning. Soaring pelicans and frigates abounded overhead with an occasional squad of Marines from the local Naval Base jogging by below at the surf line. The towns people and merchants were extremely friendly and understanding of our language barrier. The town square was an easy walk and included Mayan women selling their fresh fruits and vegetables, several excellent restaurants, the fishing boat harbor and several small grocery stores, even a pharmacy. Our host provided us with internet access and was easily accessible and accommodating. We feel this was the perfect get-away for a couple; it was peaceful and tranquil. Strolling the clean white sand beach, immersing into the calm warm Gulf water and greeting friendly towns people while strolling into town on the sand streets or to the harbor was the frosting. Transportation away is limited unless you rent an automobile in Cancun though if you're seeking peace and tranquility isn't necessary. Fishing and excursions can be arranged. The atmosphere at Casa Maya Lodge fostered a sense of "just being", no pretense or pressure to live up to others or caring; the view from the veranda was incredible and welcomes all who come to return. Real mexico

Thank you, Matthias. We enjoyed our stay in Hacienda del cuyo very much. The apartment was huge and clean and equipped with everything you need. The housemaid Remiga cares every day. It just a few steps to the beach , and 300 m to el cuyo, far enough to be really quiet (rare in mexico). It is the chance of enjoy real Mexico, not the surrogat Cancun or Playa del Carmen. Its a 2 hour drive to Valladolid and chichen itza and other archological site. Most we enjoyed to ride the Käfer (from 2003), you feel beeing part of Mexico. It worked very well. The backcountry of Mexico is not so developed as for example Cancun, but that is part of the charm. If you travel during the rain season, earth of the djungle wash into the sea with the rivers. So the water seamed muddy. But there are so many other things to do, that it doesnt matter. When we are in Mexico for the next time, we will be back.see more
