“Relaxing and tranquil” This was a great place to stay at. Progreso is a nice lazy fishing village at the tip of the Mexican state of Yucatan. It was a great place for our kids to hang out in the pool with comfortable accommodations. The beach is just a short walk down the road. If you like searching for shells, it is basically untouched (My daughter went crazy). The beach itself is not wide and a bit rocky the first few feet to get into it. However, it is shallow for about 100 meters or so out and wonderful warm water. From the beach you can watch the sunset in the evening. Progreso itself is not a destination really. Downtown is just okay. There are many things to do within 2 hours of time and Merida is only 20 minutes away. There are several supermarkets in town to bring drinks and food in. If you are looking for a great, relaxing place that feels like authentic Mexico, this is a great place to stay and visit. The site manager, Carlos, is a great guy and Jason, the owner, keeps on top of things. We would definitely return.

“Wonderful vacation” We spent a Christmas week on the villa and received everything we were dreaming to have during this vacation - a spacious and tastefully decorated villa, very clean and comfortable; a big and clean pool, and an ocean - beautiful and relaxing. It was a great pleasure to have a breakfast on the patio on the second floor, to listen the ocean and breathe fresh salty air, or to relax in hammock during the day or in the evening. The small town of Telchack has few awesome restaurants with fresh seafood and delicious local deserts, it is very quite, far from tourist crowds and local people are very friendly. We have also enjoyed flamingos and other birds watching in the lagoon just few minutes drive, local ruins, ceinotes and Merida with its cultural events. This vacation had just one disadvantage - it passed too quickly. I wish we'll have at least two weeks to spend there.

“God's Oasis” My family and I just arrived back from our stay @ Casa Hacienda about a week ago. However the memories and visions of paradise are still so fresh in our minds we still feel as though we are there. Mattias was amazingly helpful right from the start answering all of questions promptly numerous times & really took the time to make sure we understood everything. Greatly appreciated... El Cuyo it self is a very tiny fishing village in what seems like the middle of no ware.. However, it is the essence of beauty and its beaches/water pristine. Only time we saw other people "Tourists" was during the weekend of Easter and it was only for 2 days due to the festival they have their yearly.. Truly an amazing party and glad we were able to experience it. Other than those 2 days the beaches were all ours. Casa Hacienda was perfect for my family as we have two teenage boys and a young daughter. We chose to rent the entire house as it comes with a king bed in one room w attached bath, and another room with 2 twin beds and attached bath. There is aC if it is too hot. Two T.V.'s and DVD players, as well as fully furnished with all cooking/eating materials. The house was perfect in all regards... Truly miss sitting on the front porch in the hammock with a Sol in my hand. Highly recommend renting a car so that you may travel an hr or so in different directions and see the wonders of Yucatan that lie an 1hr or so away. Cenotes, & Pyramids are breathtaking. Remiga & here family are the best... if we had room in our bags I am sure we would have taken them home with us. She took care of every need or question we had and make the best food around. You must try her fish!!! She constantly made us feel like family.. I highly recommend this area and this casa to anyone who is looking for the best beaches without all the people & hustle and bustle. Its ruff, rare & divine, making it a magical and memorable Gem you must experience. Go now!!! The Hargreaves Family.

“one month in Chelem” Chelem is a good base to explore the Yucatan. It is easy to get to many key sights and close to the beautiful city of Merida and the Port town of Progreso. Casa Maya is a clean, safe and well equipped rental...and the property manager is helpful. The street is quiet and a very quick 1 minute walk to a decent beach. There are many friendly expats that live on this street. There are several very good restaurants in Chelem but may not be open when you expect them to be. The house is a bit of a walk into town so we bought a bike and resold it. Some people may require a car as you will need food and water often. The town of Chelem does not have coffee, good meat, good bakery, or fresh milk so you will need to go into Progreso for those items as well as for laundry. Chelem is 15 minutes by car or much more by public colectivos. The house does not have a washing machine which is difficult for long term rentals like us. We enjoyed our time in Chelem and Casa Maya was a good fit for a small family. The walled yard was a plus. Beth
