“Excellent place” We enjoyed our time in the cabin. It had everything we needed and it was nice to park our sleds in the garage. We was looking forward to the fire place but it had been removed.

“Great rental” My husband and I stayed in the downtown cottage with our two year old daughter. It was a perfect size for us. The location was convenient for walking to shops, restaurants, and the boat tour launch. The cottage was well appointed and very clean. We had a great trip and enjoyed Munising and the surrounding areas.

“excellent back woods getaway” What a wonderful house to stay in. Everything is there that you need and it is very clean, all you half to bring is the food you want to fix and eat. The Kitchen is really nice and has everything you need. This was our second time to Lindberg's Landing, that is how much we liked it and if we come back up to Munising this is the place to stay. It is very quiet and peaceful there. The owner Lisa is awesome to and if you need anything or help she is right there. The lake is nice and there is a fishing boat there to use which was nice. There is places to hike on the property for those who like to be outdoors. We enjoyed this a lot. And there is a lot of waterfalls in the area to go to and thy are very nice and worth the time to go see. Me and my husband stayed there for two weeks in Sept. and loved it. Linda and Denny

Cranberry Lake Lodge

Munising house

“Dream house in the North woods” My family loved staying at Cranberry Lake Lodge. The house was clean and spacious with a large deck and a fantastic view of Cranberry Lake. Located in Hiawatha National Forest, it's a little drive to Munising and Lake Superior, but it's worth it if you like the peace and quiet of the North Woods. We immediately felt at home in this beautiful house on the lake. It has all of the bells and whistles. The only negative comment I have is that we had trouble on our arrival with the lock box that holds the housekey. I called Lisa and she got back to me right away. Other than that, our stay was a great and memorable one.

“Recharged” I have stayed at Heaven several times over the past 8 years. I find it hard to believe that there is a more tranquil and relaxing place to be. Everything you need is provided. For those who like to wander off and sight see, the destinations are endless. For someone like me, who likes to relax and get away from being busy, it is perfect. The silence is deafening.

It is a wonderful place, perfectly clean, and everything you could want in a home. It is also a fantastic location to hikes of new routes every day for more than a week! We didn't even get to do all the hikes we wanted to do. You are also not far from restaurants and groceries too. I highly recommend the Moose Lodge :)

“Great place to stay!” We truly enjoyed staying here. Very nice home with lots of space for everyone. Love the open floor plan. Close to town and local attractions but very private. Huge porches, nice garage. Well appointed. Sauna is a great way to wind down at the end of the day. Hiawatha's Hideaway Rentals is great to work with - very professional and dependable. Look forward to our next stay!

About Munising

With pristine shorelines and several dedicated recreation areas along Lake Superior, Munising if a family vacation paradise. For the perfect beachside cottage or cabin in the woods, visit FlipKey where you’ll find a property to suit any budget.

About Munising, Michigan

Located on the southern shore of Lake Superior in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Munising is a small town with a population of just 2,500.

The name Munising comes from the Ojibway (Chippewa) language and means “near island”, which refers to Grand Island—a 35-mile long 8-miles wide National Park—just a half mile offshore.

Nestled in the Hiawatha National Forest, Munising is the gateway to the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and Grand Island National Recreational Area.

The nearest big settlement and the largest on the Upper Peninsula is Marquette, a town of 21,000 inhabitants just a 40-minute drive away.

Primarily a hunting and fishing vacation destination, the lands around Munising attract people to the beaches in the summer and to the cross-country ski and snowmobile trails in winter. During the fall the area is popular as the foliage changes color with magnificent rusty hues.

What to do in Munising, Michigan

Local attractions include the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore where you will discover multicolored sandstone cliffs and miles of lakeshore beach. About the size of five Manhattan Islands, you can reconnect with nature by bird watching and fishing in secret trout streams.

The area around Munising has many lighthouses. Normally associated with the northern rocky coast of New England, this may come as a bit of a surprise until you understand how important shipping used to be on the Great Lakes. Today, the lighthouse men are long gone but the towers remain with tours available to explain their fascinating histories.

For birders, a must-see is the Seney National Wildlife Refuge—a summer breeding ground for migratory birds and a reintroducing ground for Bald eagles and common loons.

In Munising, you will find outfitters renting out boats and kayaks as well as tour operators offering excursions to places only accessible by watercraft.

Top travel tips for Munising, Michigan

Munising is a destination with four distinct seasons. If you are not planning to drive there from the mainland, Sawyer International Airport, near Marquette, has daily flights to and from Detroit, Minneapolis, and Chicago.

Despite its reputation for being a summer lake playground, the Upper Peninsula is a winter wonderland that receives over 200 inches of snow. For a spectacular treat, go night skiing on Mount Bohemia for views of the Northern Lights.

With not too many gas stations on the Upper Peninsula, keep an eye on how much fuel you have in the tank and top up whenever you can.

“Once visited, never forgotten” is how locals like to describe the Upper Peninsula of Michigan—a natural paradise full of outdoor adventure. Great Northern Secret !!

From the initial inquiries to the time we arrived the whole process was very smooth. Directions to the cabin were spot-on accurate and we were 'very' surprised when we pulled up to this U.P. gem. I have mixed feelings about leaving a truthful review of this place because I would love to keep this wonderful discovery as a family secret but that would not be fair to others so here goes... This is not the storied "up cabin" you typically think of. This place is a fully equipped northern home in the woods. Not rustic, but luxury. We were in need of nothing the entire weeks stay. Our only complaint was that we didn't have a vacuum to clean up after ourselves (how dumb is that ??) We have been traveling to the up for decades and never realized that a cabin of this quality and value even existed for our vacation use. The location (approx 10 miles south of Munising) is such that it's perfect for day trips to the Pictured Rocks, Waterfall viewing, Fayette, Seney Wildlife Refuge, The Big Spring and many great up towns like Marquette, Grand Marais and Manistique just to name a few. If you like hiking or canoing the area abounds with trails and lakes. In the evenings after long days roaming the north country we would come back to the cabin, cook dinner and the family would sit around the campfire and unwind. If you are looking for a Great up getaway this is it. For the price, quality and amenities that this place offers, my family has found a home away from home. Maple Ridge vs Motel stay ?? No-brainer !!see more

Angel Island View Inn - Lower Level Suite
Wonderful home

We had originally rented the Angel Island View home for a winter snowmobile weekend. The weather did not cooperate so we rebooked, then it rained so trails were not good. The owners let us again rebook so we choose the weekend of Fathers Day. What a wonderful weekend. The home is fully furnished down to towels, bedding, Coffee pot, even a crockpot. There was a basket with shampoo and lotions in the Bathroom also. In the kitchen we found a basket with some pop tarts and smore stuff and little boxes of cereal. I really enjoyed this home and the owners are wonderful people. I would definitely come here again!see more

Rainbows Promise on pretty lake, close to Pictured Rocks, woodsy area, hiking from door!
A wonderful getaway!

My husband and I stayed at Rainbows Promise in September of 2013. The cottage is quaint, very clean, with a well stocked kitchen, comfy queen bed with impeccable linens. There is a loft with 2 beds, great for kids, full size appliances, even a washer/dryer. We enjoyed a bon fire nightly, and the setting is very private with a perfect lakeview. The lake has a sandy bottom with a large dock big enough for 2 lounge chairs. This cottage is about 10 miles from Munising, close to the National Lakeshore parks, and several lakes, hiking trail access. Lisa is very accommodating, easy to work with, ready to answer any questions with a phone call. We did not have cell service...but that was the point. There is landline for emergencies.see more

Perfect Cottage in the Woods!

Nestled among pine trees in the Hiawatha National Forest, so quiet you can hear the wind blow through the trees. The cottage is very comfortable and roomy. Many ATV/OTV trails are near by for lots of exploration. There are a couple ATV really talk shops nearby. Short drives to many waterfalls and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Lots of great food and shopping too! You have to visit the artisan shops :)see more
