The Happy Clam is a stylish comfortable home with walls of windows, including a two story great room. This makes for wonderful viewing of the water and sky. Inspiring in any kind of weather. The location is ideal:

* sits right on the quiet south jetty with great views from the bay to the ocean - birds and seals are constantly in view as are fishing boats cruising by

* is at the epicenter of fun stuff, all within walking distance - a serene beach, clam beds, biking, pier for crabbing, marina, Rogue Brewery, marine attractions including the fabulous Aquarium, restaurants, shops, glass blowing, bike trails and miles of beach.

5 BEDROOMS TOTAL with addition of main floor apartment or:

MAIN HOUSE (Sleeps up to 11): The main part of the house is on the second and third level which is also why the views are so good. There we have 3 bedrooms (1-King and 2 Queens) plus a bunk room (very small room with bunk beds) and a loft area with a pull-out couch (full). The bedrooms all have walk-in closets and baths. There are 3 HDTV's and plenty of couches and chairs. The master bedroom has a double walk-in closet, so large we put a twin mattress in one side for an extra sleeping place.

The dining table seats 8 (10 can work) and the kitchen counter seats 3. The kitchen is stocked with dishes, pans, pots, cutlery, spices, flour, sugar.

APARTMENT (Sleeps 2): We have recently remodeled a space on the first level of the home into a cheerful downstairs apartment. It has a bedroom with a queen bed, a bath, a small living room and kitchen plus another HDTV. We do not rent this separately but it can be added to the main house. With this, The Happy Clam can easily open up handle up to 13 people. It's nice to have this space for those that are bit noisier or need more quiet time -- depending on the group.

The Happy Clam is great for smaller families and is also perfect for expanded family get-togethers, retreats, book and other clubs, reunions, birthday or other special days (including surprises) - or just plain getting away from the routine. Additional Location Information

We are on the south side of the Yaquina Bay Bridge where the bay waters transition to the ocean -- called the jetty. Our windows look out onto the water and we love watching the fishing boats, the seals splashing, lots of birds and other sea life....occasionally there are orcas as well.

  It Just Doesn't Get any Better Than This!

  We have stayed at many vacation rentals on the Oregon Coast. Our stay at The Happy Clam was the best we've ever had. Sherie made it so easy to reserve this property. We also rented the additional downstairs suite so my husband could work while we were there and not be disturbed by the rest of the family in vacation mode.
  The house is just below the Newport bridge, gorgeous by day and twinkling with lights at night. There is a popular walking/bike path along the jetty that comes out just across the street from the house. The deck off the 'great room' is a wonderful vantage point for people and boat watching. The house is on the jetty and has ocean views. The sunsets are stunning.
  The main living area is on the second floor has a vast expanse of windows on the north and west side. The kitchen is large, with a full sized refrigerator/freezer and another full sized upright freezer adjacent. There is plenty of storage room for non-perishables. You have a view of the jetty and the ocean from the kitchen sink. There is a breakfast bar as well as a dining table that seats six. No matter where you are in the main living area you have views. Plenty of dishes, glasses, cups, and silverware are provided. The dishwasher works great. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms on this main floor.
  The third floor has a wall of bookcases filled with books and games, another table with chairs, and a hide-a-bed couch in the open sitting area that looks down on the great room. There is a very small room with a bunk bed off the sitting area, and a huge master bedroom with stupendous views from a wall of windows on the west side. A table in the bedroom has a coffee maker so you can have your first cup without rousing anyone else. The master suite has it's own bathroom with a double sink, a large jetted tub and a separate shower. There are actually 2 walk-in closets across from the bathroom. One of them has a twin mattress in it for extra accommodations.
  The kids' favorite place turned out to be the garage, because of the pool and ping-pong tables down there. There is a laundry sink, and a washer and dryer in the garage, as well as an electric barbeque and a propane crab pot. Cooking with the barbeque or crab pot has to be done outdoors, but was quite convenient to open the garage doors and move them outside. There are crab nets for your use and the crabbing at the docks a short walk away is good.
  If you're into clamming or just watching other people clamming, this is the place for you! At low tide, the beach just across the road is a very popular spot.
  The Newport aquarium is an easy walk or a 2 minute drive from the house. Another must-see is aquarium Village, also an easy walk or 2 minute drive. Be sure to take your camera, because this place is all about wacky photo-ops with a nautical theme. Great fish and chips for lunch at Fishtails Cafe there. We also highly recommend the Discovery Tours boat that can be found on the bay side at Old Town.
  The Happy Clam was worth every penny, and I am so glad we stayed there. The kids still talk about it as "our best vacation ever".
