Description
Skerry cottage is a beautifully renovated lighthousekeeper's cottage at the base of Buchan ness lighthouse, the most north-easterly point in Scotland.
Buchan Ness lighthouse was built by Robert Stevenson, and is one of the few remaining working lighthouses in Scotland.
Skerry cottage has a bright ,airy galley kitchen, with cooker, grill, fridge, microwave, and coffee- maker.The kitchen table seats 4 comfortably.Great place to sit out and have your morning coffee, and also to sit in the evening, with perhaps a glass of wine, to watch the lighthouse beams revolving slowly above your head.
The kitchen door leads onto a decking area which faces east, where the sun rises over the sea and rocks.
There are two bedrooms, one double with king- size bed, the second with two single beds.
The cottage has full central heating, with the optional addition of an open fire in the living room,
All bedding and towels are provided.
Skerry Cottage was in bad repair when we started to renovate it three years ago. but we kept as many of the original features as we could- Like the original shutters, doors and beautiful pitch pine floors in both bedrooms.
The setting is very peaceful and quiet, but is just a short walk across the bridge from the village of Boddam .
Within 40 mins. drive from Aberdeen airport.
We are within a short distance from many world famous links golf courses, and this is also a great area for birdwatching, and marine wildlife like seals, dolphins and porpoises.
We have recently received a 4 star rating from" Visit Scotland"

“Lovely stay”
Booked the lighthouse house for trip with grandson. Beautiful surroundings. Very comfortable accommodation with everything we needed. Lovely to wake to just the sea in front of us.
