Description from owner

Description

Dolphin View Cottage in Ardersier is a warm, well-insulated one-bedroom cottage with a wood-burning stove. From the cottage windows, you can look across the Moray Firth coastline to the Black Isle and the hills beyond.

Both the lounge/dining room and the bedroom have great sea views and the cottage is well equipped with On-Demand TV, books, board games. Local guides and ordnance survey maps are provided to help you get the most from your holiday.

The cottage is situated on the Moray Firth which is home to about 190 bottlenose dolphins. (There are two pairs of binoculars in the cottage for guests use). Popular places to see dolphins are from the ramparts at Fort George, the lighthouse at Chanonry Point and of course, the Whale & Dolphin Conservation Society (WDCS) wildlife visitor centre at Spey Bay (free admission). Entry to Fort George which is within walking distance of the cottage is covered by using the cottage friends pass.

Ardersier, which was originally a small fishing village is located between Nairn and Inverness. The village has several convenience stores, pharmacy, post office, pub and hotel serving excellent food along with a couple of cafes and organic food producers with their own shops.

Ideally located to tour the Highlands, you can explore fishing villages, mountains and miles of exciting coastline, lochs, including the famous Loch Ness - try to spot the Loch Ness Monster, Nessie. Visit the stunning Caledonian pine forests where you may see squirrels, Scottish Crossbills, Ospreys and Red Kites. Take a cruise on Loch Ness, stop for lunch at Drumnadrochit. Watch the boats on the flight of locks and visit The Caledonian Canal visitor centre at Fort Augustus. Return on the south side of the Loch visiting the spectacular Falls of Foyers. Also call in on the 14th century Cawdor Castle only 6 miles away. Cawdor was romantically linked by Shakespeare with Macbeth. Only 3 miles from Inverness Airport and under 4 miles to Castle Stuart Golf Course, you are close to Nairn with its wonderful long sandy beaches, the Speyside Way, Cawdor Castle, Brodie Castle, Culloden Battlefield, Fort George, Glen Affric and the world famous Malt Whisky Trail. Outlander fans have local locations to explore, Beauly, Culloden and Clava Cairns.

Great base for golfers with many championship courses nearby. Good flight connections to Inverness Airport which is only 10 minutes away.

The cottage is ideal for couples and pet-friendly. Dogs get their own hospitality pack which includes a toy and treat. Dog bowls, towels provided for guest dogs use. Free superfast fibre broadband WiFi
