Matakauri Place is your home-away-from-home in New Zealand’s magnificient Southern Alps. Purpose built for the discerning traveler, Matakauri enjoys an elevated position in the exclusive residential enclave of Queenstown’s Aspen Grove.

Depending on your requirements 10 Matakauri Place offers three accommodation options: the luxurious three bedroom Matakauri House; the entirely separate one bedroom Matakauri Pad; or, for those who want command of both the House and Pad, the incomparable Matakauri Place.

Matakauri House is a spacious home spread over two levels. Each of the three luxury double bedrooms is beautifully appointed..., enjoying their own ensuite, ipod docking station and television. The master bedroom is the inner core of this sanctuary, with a spacious lounge and oversized Jacuzzi ensuring you can really escape from it all.

The open-plan living area stretches across the entire second floor with a wall of glass separating your snug world from the breathtaking scenery beyond. An edifice of local schist stone houses the large open fireplace, leather lounges before it under high ceilings. The kitchen enjoys first class appliances, walk-in-pantry, Nespresso machine and wine cooling cabinet. The granite topped island bench is guaranteed to be a gathering place to share your day’s adventures on the ski slopes. If you’re feeling more formal, there’s a dining table for eight in front of a second open fireplace.

Naturally, you’ll expect multiple outdoor entertaining areas. Two separate outside decks let you enjoy those long summer evenings. And should outdoor cooking be your raison d’etre for the day, there’s a sun soaked courtyard providing seating for eight, with built-in BBQ and an outdoor fireplace that is primed and awaiting you.

Original art works, Bose sound, SKY television, a book/DVD/CD library, premium coffee and teas, a selection of the latest international magazines and premium toiletries are the small touches you’d expect from a home of this caliber. And should keeping in touch with what the rest of us are doing be important, Wi-Fi and a laptop computer are ready to take you surfing.

Matakauri Pad makes you question why anyone would ever want to stay in a hotel. More house than apartment, it shares its walls with no one and is accessed via its own dedicated entrance. The views enjoyed from the fully equipped kitchen, lounge and master bedroom are simply Queenstown’s best.

Finely appointed including a spa bath, the apartment spills directly onto a spacious lawn, garden, private deck and BBQ area. Dependent on the season, your biggest challenge may be dragging yourself off the outside lounge and away from the lavender bed and blossom tree.

Matakauri Pad includes a luxury king bedroom and a fold out sofa bed in the lounge room enabling comfortable accommodation for four.

  When we arrived into Queenstown we called the house manager (as arranged) and were told how to get into the property - all very easy. On arriving we found the home to be entirely clean and tidy, and helpfully stocked with the basics (milk, teas, coffees, oil etc) and a good bottle of sparkling white. All mod cons were there, with nothing lacking in terms of being able to cook, BBQ etc.
  
  I'd stayed in Queenstown a few times before and so knew to expect some great views, but those from the living areas were even more amazing then I had expected. My friends (who had never been to Queenstown) were also utterly impressed, both with the views and the luxurious standard of the accommodation (3 spacious bathrooms and bedrooms as well as the very comfortable kitchen/diner and separate lounge).
  
  This is a first class property, which I would definitely rent again. The photos on their website truly do not do the place justice.

  Amazing views

  My wife and I stayed in the self contained apartment, the bottom level of the house which is on a steep site giving the most amazing uninterrupted views of the lake and the Remarkables range, visible from the kitchen living room and bedroom through floor to ceiling glass doors, which open onto a lawn terrace with a gas barbecue. We were met by the property manager who briefed us on the amenities, Sky TV and free wifi. The property was spotless and had good quality linen and towels, and bathroom amenities. The kitchen was well equipped. The town centre is 10 minutes by car or a walk of 30 minutes takes you to the lake. Access is down 2 flights of steps so that people of limited mobility would need to know this. There is a good local bistro 15 minutes walk away. Just outside the airport is a good supermarket, essential for flights arriving late.
