We've stayed at soaring eagle and allegheny springs previously. they were both nice but we didn't like the remote location of soaring eagle and both 1 bedrooms felt small and cramped to us.
This year i deliberately set out to find something spacious, ski in/ski out, close to the village, and reasonably priced (with a bathtub).
it took a long time!! but i did!!
We really enjoyed our 2 bedroom Powder Monkey unit rented thru snowshoerealestate.com. i am so glad i finally stumbled across their site. They have a lot of options ranging from 1-4 bedrooms and are affordably priced (compared to the rest of snowshoe lodging).
Our 2 bedroom unit was literally slopeside as promised, within 5 minutes walk of the village and huge!! we wanted space and we got it.
The powdermonkey units are older, so i think you would have to be careful about renting any old one, but ours, though older, felt well cared for and reasonably updated.
For sure, if you're looking for granite or marble countertops and sleek modern fixtures, this is not the unit for you. check out soaring eagle.
our powdermonkey unit was clean, comfortable, well equipped and we had a great time. it was everything we were looking for. even had bath tubs!! (and after skiing all day, all i want is a hot bath, and neither soaring eagle nor allegheny springs offers a tub in their 1 bedrooms)
the manager was friendly, helpful and responsive.
my only real complaint, which we were warned of in advance, is the lack of internet. snowshoe in general is terrible, there's no cell anywhere on the mountain--really, they mean it, there is no cell coverage--and only some of the units provide ethernet or decent wireless connections.
As i said, we were warned no reliable internet. We were able to leech onto a slow connection nearby 80% of the time, so we survived. There is unlimited long distance landline in the unit which came in handy.
Overall, very pleased, exactly what we were looking for and very affordable.

Powder Monkey 12 is the perfect location for true ski-in/ski-out experience. This unit is well appointed and spacious. Kids will enjoy the bunk bed in the loft, while parents enjoy their private rooms. Young and old will enjoy the wood fireplace and living area. Only wish would be for consistent wi-fi connection, but after all, we're here to ski not work!

We loved our stay at Powder Monkey 12. The unit was cozy and well appointed just as advertised. Nothing fancy, but perfect for our group with it's ample square footage, great storage locker / mud room, cozy fireplace and nicely outfitted kitchen. Powder Monkey 12 features a great location which combined with natural snow provided a true ski in and of at the top of Powder Monkey lift.

The house is comfortable and located right next to the Power Monkey lift. A short walk to all the shops in Snowshoe. The amenities were in the process of being upgraded when we were there (fridge was on the fritz). Loved the wood fireplace. The master upstairs is huge. This a great place for a family or two couples. No wi-fi was a little annoying as the cell signal at the top of the mountain is spotty.
