Description

This cozy cottage on wonderful Hancock Point offers a beautiful view of Mount Desert from the cottage or from its beach. The beach, one of the best on the Point, offers giant rocks for sitting and a large expanse at low tide for seeking beach glass or sunbathing, as well as a "bath tub" that nature built nestled in the big rocks -- great for little children to dip their feet in.

The cottage itself, with it's high ceiling and loft, feels open and friendly. The large living room with beautiful views gives onto a sunporch, great for watching for lobster boats and enjoying meals.

There are two bedrooms downstairs, both with double beds, as well as two double beds in the loft, a favorite area with kids. The bathroom with it's original claw foot tub is modern and bright. The kitchen is well equipped and functional.

The. cottage can be rented for a minimum of one week.

Getting around

A car is a must here. You can walk all around the Point including to the tennis courts, the dock, the library and the chapel. But the nearest convenience store is in Hancock, 5 miles up the road. Ellsworth, another 16 miles on Rte. 1, has everything you might need. A wonderful day trip is to Mount Desert Island where there is so much to enjoy.

Interaction with guest

While the owner is just a phone call away, our caretaker is within minutes of the cottage as well as being a phone call away. There are many coves and bays in the area to visit. Our favorite outing is to the Jordan Pond House on Mount Desert Island (a 45 minute trip) for popovers on the lawn following a 3.5 mile hike around Jordan Pond. On a stormy day, a visit to Schoodic National Park is an exciting experience. The most fabulous local cultural enrichment experience comes from the Monteux School of Music in Hancock the summer session of which runs from the end of June through July.
