Cliffside at Sandcliff by the Sea

Bar Harbor house

3 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“What gem we found!” My wife and I took our two adult daughters and their husband and boyfriend to Bar Harbor ME. Cliff side at Sandcliff by the Sea was the perfect place! The house is beautiful and spacious. We used the gas grill several times and enjoyed the gas fireplace on the deck tremendously. The location is excellent...close enough to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. We used the bus systems to explore the park. My youngest daughter and her boyfriend hiked over thirty miles of Acadia. The owner was fantastic to work with. We had a slight problem the first night but Bonnie took care of it immediately. I highly recommend this home. We gathered wild blueberries just behind the home and used them in our breakfast. Our favorite places to eat....popovers at Jordan's Pond, lobster rolls at the Side Street Cafe, BBQ at Mainely Meats with Atlantic Brewery tour, lobster dinner at Gaylin's. Beer at the Beerworks and karaoke. And of course warm blueberry pie ala mode and blueberry twist soft serve at C J's. The light house boat tour is well worth the time and money. We highly recommend this as your vacation destination

Long Pond Waterfront with Dock and Views of Acadia

Mount Desert house

3 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 5

“Lovely Week on Long Pond” My husband and I, our two girls, and our cockapoo dog, had a great time staying at Windiana III this past July. We stayed for July 4th week. There is so much to do, and being right on the lake was key for us. It was also very secluded. We loved have the floating dock. It gave the kids something to do on the lake beside kayaking. They swam out to the dock and back and even brought their boogie boards to ride the 'waves' when some of the boats went by. The house was clean and nicely furnished. The beds were comfortable and had very nice quilts and bedding. The bathroom was spacious and very new and clean. We had a great week and would love to return next year. Thank you Diana!

Sea Ledge at Sandcliff by the Sea

Bar Harbor house

3 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“Comfortable Stay with Amazing Bedroom Ocean View” My husband and I stayed at Sandcliff by the Sea for our 1 year wedding anniversary. What a comfortable, beautiful home with an outstanding view of Frenchman's Bay from the Bedroom Deck! We ate breakfast every morning watching the boats sail by while smelling the salt air. We were looking for complete relaxation…and Sandcliff by the Sea delivered this. Every night during our stay I enjoyed the master bedroom jacuzzi..it's down right amazing! Now if I can only convince my husband that we need one at home :) You can also hike from the back yard and enjoy wild blueberries along the way! Lastly we were very impressed with how clean the house was upon our arrival. Thank you very much Bonnie! We will definitely be back again in the future. Jen :)

Log Cabin in the Best Town on Mt. Desert Island

Southwest Harbor log cabin

3 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 8

“This is very clean, well-accomodated, and in a great location!” Our family just returned from a week in this great cabin. We wanted to be very close to acadia National Park, but not in a busy area. The location was perfect for this. The cabin is within walking distance of a small town with great restaurants and stores, and a very short drive (some 5 minutes, some 10 minutes, some 15 minutes) to all the sights of the national park. And when you return to the cabin you experience its quiet and natural setting at its best. It was rejuvenating to be there. The owners have obviously taken a lot of time and effort to make their home user-friendly. It comes equipped with everything you need for cooking and relaxing. Everything is clean and cared for, and the entire cabin has a cozy yet spacious feel to it. Very highly recommended!

Bagatelle Guest Cottage - waterfront in Bar Harbor

Bar Harbor cottage

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 2

“Cozy Cottage” My wife and I have traveled to acadia many times over the years, staying in hotels, other cottages, B&B;'s, etc. Our stay at Bagatelle Guest Cottage was by far our most enjoyable stay we've ever had. Checking in was a breeze, there were no surprises awaiting us in the cottages and it was spotless. The location was ideal for us, an easy walk to downtown Bar Harbor and an awesome view of the water and Bar Island. The main house was unoccupied most of the week so we had a very quiet and exclusive estate to enjoy by ourselves. I'll return to Bagatelle Guest Cottage on my next trip to acadis, that's for sure.

Little Island House Upstairs Appartment

Bass Harbor house

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 2

“Perfect slice of Peace” The Little Island House is the perfect place to stay when you journey to Maine. It is located in Bass Harbor, which is a peaceful village where lobster fishermen and women come and go. Less than a block from the house is a place to purchase crab and live lobster which you can steam in a kitchen which has Everything you could possibly need. If you are not interested in cooking, a wharf restaurant is close by and will meet your every need. The bed and bedding were perfect. Everything was very comfortable. From your little house, you can quickly jump to other villages and acadia National Park. My favorite part was sitting on the porch watching boats come in and out of the harbor. We also took a boat trip which left from the dock near the house. We saw the part of Maine that you can only see from a boat.

Anchorage - Harborfront in Southwest Harbor

Southwest Harbor cottage

3 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“A relaxing family vacation!” Anchorage is a wonderful, comfortable home perfect for a family vacation. As a "family of foodies," we appreciated the well supplied kitchen - cookware, bakeware, tableware, and plenty of tools and widgets to have fun creating meals with local lobster (and other seafood), blueberries, and farmers' market goodies. The dining room shelves stocked with books and games were a huge hit with our family. An upstairs bedroom with two twin beds was so perfect for our boys, they didn't even fuss about bedtime. The house is simply wonderful. One complaint - just one, but because it was at the very end of our stay, it continues to grate on me. After we returned home, we were contacted by the management company, who told us that the housekeeper reported to the owner that the house "smelled like we smoked there." We were flabbergasted... we rented this home because it was strictly nonsmoking, just like our family! Not only did we obviously not smoke in the home, we took great care to leave the house clean upon our departure. The management company had the good grace to at least sound embarrassed when we mentioned that we treated our boys to pancakes and bacon a few hours before we departed, and that is all the housekeeper could possibly have smelled. We weren't billed for smoke or anything, so big picture, this is a minor complaint after a lovely vacation. It's just that, after paying a solid rental fee and taking good care of the property, we didn't really feel welcome after being questioned.

Harbor Breeze A - downstairs duplex in the village of Bar Harbor

Bar Harbor apartment

2 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“Loved the rental, not the parking” We wanted to be downtown as it is always more difficult to find parking for dinner and shopping. The house is on a quiet street convenient to town and the bar for launching our kayak. Our one concern was that there was not enough off street parking for our vehicle and a vehicle for the upstairs rental without blocking someone in. We were lucky being there in September and no one rented the upstairs. Even in September, we never saw parking on the street that was available should someone be upstairs. We loved the rental, but just got lucky on the parking.

Bar Harbor apartment

2 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“Light blue stay in Harbor Breeze B” We stayed one week in Harbor Breeze B in June 2013. Wonderful spacious appartment with everything you need. The only disadvantage could be the rather steep staircase which leads to appartment B. A short walk brings you to the center of Bar Harbor where you find restaurants and shops of all kind. People of acadia Cottage Rentals were helpfull at any time. So we can recommend the cottage in any way. Barbar and Heiner, Berlin, Germany

Meadow & Mountain View - amazing views & privacy, walk to Bar Harbor

Bar Harbor farmhouse

3 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 8

“Perfect location” This older farmhouse has a perfect location. Only a mile from town and there is a trail that crosses at end of driveway for easy access hiking. Park loop road is right around the corner. The best part is when you are there it is completely private in the middle of a quiet meadow. The house itself is older but clean and all amenities are there for you. Would definitely recommend it.

Hot Tub+AIR CONDITIONING+Fire Pit+Views & Access to Somes Sound

Mount Desert cottage

2 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 7

“Absolutely fantastic!” We had a fantastic stay at The acadia. We were probably some of the first tourists of the season (mid april) and it was pretty chilly, so the hot tub was a very welcome amenity. The owners were wonderful, taking the time to show us around upon arrival and even brought over a new grill right away when we realized the original wasn't working. The cottage was just the right size for four people--cozy but comfortable. Everything was very clean and the views were beautiful. We cooked our own lobster and ate out on the deck on night. Another night we had a fire in the fire pit and drank wine and roasted marsh-mellows. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone heading to acadia.

Long Pond Waterfront with Dock and Views of Acadia
Tranquil oasis on Long Pond

This little gem is not to be missed. Set back only a short distance to Long Pond, the modern cabin gave us gorgeous lake views, great kayaking each morning and evening, privacy and many quiet moments of sipping a cocktail on the large deck. It is in a great location, a close drive to all the hiking and carriage trails in Acadia NP for the adventurous, yet also close to Bar Harbor for shopping and great food. The owners, Diana and Gary were very helpful with suggestions during our stay. We took them up on recommendations for take-out Lobsters from Trenton bridge, dinner and croquet at Claremont hotel in Southwest Harbor and quite a few of the less traveled hikes in Acadia. We had a great experience at Windiana and look forward to returning next year.see more
Haiku House - your gateway to Acadia
Nice cottage within walking distance of the beach and Acadia park

We enjoyed our stay in this 2-floor cottage which is nice, clean and fully functional, including a good wireless internet. The cottage is being extended but there was plenty of room as it was for our family of 5. Good tips from the owners on what to do / where to go during your stay. Walking distance to the Seals Bay beach and the Jordan Pond in the Acadia Park; 10 miles to the main local village of Bar Harbor with bustling shops / restaurants / coffee houses etc. Acadia itself is an amazing piece of (practically) untouched nature with both mild and tough walking trails opening up some breath-taking views.see more

Beautiful Historic Home - Rare Family Togetherness Opportunity

There can be no better way to experience a new scenic location than with family! The opportunity to do that, enjoy, and be a part of morning and evening discussions is just not there with a large family in multiple hotel rooms. Compare to that a stay at Willowbrook, right across from scenic Somes Sound. You can watch from the porch as others take pictures of the view. The home is large and charming, has so much history, unique details and qualities that make exploration irresistible. Our daughter had tears in her eyes upon entering the kitchen due to similarities to my Mom's home. Discussions about the home itself were so frequent and made more interesting by the numerous on site publications and books regarding the area and its history. Most of our family of twelve were 18 or older; all enjoyed not only the glimpse of life in the past, but actually living in such a home made it natural to imagine and of course talk about earlier life. Be sure that Willowbrook was an upscale residence from early times and provides a flavor of such a life. In a time frame when many did not have electricity or indoor plumbing, residents here had indoor plumbing. The 1920s era showers had multiple shower heads, which even now are a rarity. The shower controls alone were very advanced for the time and rival or exceed the contemporary in the ability of infinite control of both volume and temperature. Just imagine when these were new and the leading edge of innovation. Be aware that operation of the showers is not at first intuitive, since these controls are early prototypes from which others evolved. Did I mention FOUR bathrooms? Having seven ladies in our group made this so so nice. It is important to note that there was never a shortage of hot water. So. The home itself is a worthwhile experience, but this home is on Mount Desert Island. It is just so trouble free to make excursions to the various Acadia National Park sites, places to enjoy lobster, outdoor activities, and the bustle of Bar Harbor, with possible intermissions to return "home" to Willowbrook. If you seek modern cookie cutter perfection, skip Willowbrook. Our vacation was much more fulfilling because of our stay here.see more
Beautiful ocean view close to Seawall
Relaxing retreat close to nature

Our family of four enjoyed the two-level apartment. A steep ladder to the kids room certainly requires a certain age and makes transport of luggage into that bedroom nearly impossible. Spotless, well equipped kitchen; two comfy lounge chairs for reading, sunrise views, etc.; gas fireplace and grill that the kids loved. Thank you! Recommended.see more

Vacation in Bar Harbor - Stonewall House

Folks - we just completed our vacation for 2020 & we could have never imagined it being so well as coming out from Confinement due to Covid and getting outdoors in Bar Harbor. Our stay @ Stonewall house made it even better. My kids enjoyed the wooden interior of the house, beautiful bathrooms and a great family room where we all had a blast with popcorn and movie nights. The kitchen was the main hanging point for our family as we love to cook and it had everything you can desire in a full loaded kitchen for a family. One other main attraction of the house was Fireplace , which is outside and we had multiple nights of star gazing and roasting Marshmellows while cozily sitting close to each other and feeling a great sense of bonding. The house is at perfect distance away from Bar harbor town as you can get away from crowd and have your peace time with family. Greg is one of the BEST host I have ever met and he was proactive to give us all information upfront & during our stay @ Stonewall house. Everything in the house was very clean and tidy and had all stuff as required for a family to enjoy. We are already discussing spending a week in winter and 2 weeks next year in summer in Bar harbor and @ Stonewall house. I am glad I was able to give a memorable time to my family @ Stonewall house - Bar Harbor. This will be a vacation that will go down their memory lane. Thanks you Greg & Karen....Much appreciated.see more
