There are two bathrooms serving the property, one of which is a shower room on the ground floor. There is a lovely lawned area with furniture and fishing rights for the River Esk are available from the owner, as long as visitors have a fishing licence.

Region: The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.
Town: The fishing port of Whitby lies at the mouth of the River Esk and is well placed for exploring this wonderful part of Yorkshire with its spectacular coastline and the magnificent North York Moors. St Hilda's Abbey is high on Whitby's East Cliff as is the parish church of St Mary and the 199 steps leading up to them is well worth the climb. Bram Stoker was inspired by the atmospheric town to write Dracula. Whitby is also famous for Jet, a beautiful gemstone and the Victorian Jet Works will shed insight into the jet industry. Other attractions in Whitby are the Captain Cook Memorial Museum and the Dracula Experience. With its safe beaches and access to the North York Moors, Whitby is a tremendous base for a family holiday.

"Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. Whalebone Cottage was a lovely base for exploring Whitby and the surrounding areas. The cottage was clean and comfortable. The only drawback was the slightly small dining area when a group of us wanted to cook/eat together. Otherwise, a perfect base for a lovely few days.
