Lovely house, amazing views, fine location & pools
Description from the owner
Modern house for up to 8 people with lovely terraces set in landscaped gardens with excellent swimming pools. Charming town, beaches, restaurants all within 5 minutes drive
The house is in the community "Fuentes de Almunecar" (Fountains of Almunecar), perched strategically on a hilltop overlooking a spectacular coastline and backed by ranges of hills. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with trees, streams, fountains and waterfalls. Residents are Spanish, British and a sprinkling of other nationalities.
There are two communal pools, one an infinity pool, and wonderful views along the coast and out over the Mediterranean. Both pools are no more than a two minute walk from the apartment. The Infinity pool is open from 15th June to 15th September. The Panoramic pool is open all year weather permitting.
The centre of Almunecar has a classical Spanish atmosphere and has so far avoided being dominated by tourism. The Moorish and Phoenician architectural heritage shows up in the winding passages and cobbled squares of the old quarter as well as the prominent castle. The town also has several markets, some very good restaurants, a bird park, several beaches and a water park, all easily reachable from the house. Modern supermarkets, banks and other facilities are also available.
A car is needed to reach the property and to get around, particularly on warm summer days when the walk back from the nearest beaches or the centre of town can be a challenge. Driving in this part of Spain is not hard, the roads are in excellent condition and places are clearly signposted. In the house we provide a range of books, maps and suggestions for both driving and walking tours.
On arrival, our guests are provided with extensive information on local attractions and our favourite beaches, restaurants, shopping, night life, sports, sightseeing destinations, etc., many of which we have discovered by staying in the area for extended periods. Our local manager maintains the property and, if requested, can arrange activities and excursions.
The 4-bedroom town house has a large terrace with a dining table and chairs. The total indoor area is about 125 m2. There are two full bathrooms plus an extra WC. One bedroom has a private terrace. The interior is roomy and the ceilings high, contributing to a light and open interior.
The terrace is large and quiet, with an extraordinary panorama view and opportunities to observe both sunrise and sunset. It is an ideal place to enjoy a relaxing meal or sunbathe. The terrace is equipped with a dining table, chairs and sun beds.
Air conditioning and central heating ensures that the property is comfortable year round.
For year-round visitors with diverse interests
The Costa Tropical is an up-and-coming area that has long been known to Spanish holidaymakers and is now starting to attract more foreign visitors. The town of Almunecar maintains its authentically Spanish character while welcoming international holidaymakers, a key factor in our familys decision to invest here. We spend as much time here as possible!
The Costa Tropical runs from Nerja to Motril and is characterised by rugged cliffs falling to the sea, a variety of beaches and a sub-tropical climate that supports avocados, mangoes and bananas.
A variety of holidays can be enjoyed at our house, including relaxing by the pool, visiting nearby beaches, water sports, horse riding, scuba diving, golf and walking in the countryside. Spains premiere ski resort is available in the winter and spring.
This may be the best climate in Europe. Compared to the rest of the Spanish south coast, the Costa Tropical is particularly mild in the winter and relatively cool and comfortable during the summer. There are more than 320 sunny days each year. Daytime highs range from 16 C in the winter to 29 in July and August, with lows of 8 in the winter and 20-22 in the summer.
The magnificent city of Granada with its spectacular Alhambra palace is only 40 minutes away by car, with high quality skiing in the nearby Sierra Nevada mountains from December to April. Skiing in the morning and the beach in the afternoon can be an option in the winter. Seville, another great destination, can be reached in 3 hours....Read more

The house 2E1 was really top class, all mod cons, air conditioning, H&C;, showers, excellent kitchen, + internet access. Location/pools all ideal, lovely setting. All five of us, from ages 8 to 50+ had only good things to say.
The one issue we had about internet connection was resolved promtly by the local management team.
In a perfect world, there would have been a small place nearby for the kids to kick a football - they did, however, develop their street soccer skills, albeit on steeply sloped roads! Perhaps, too, if the air conditioning was extended to the smaller bedrooms, just to cool them a little before retiring.
"Dream location, beautiful home and surroundings, nice people"

We cannot sing high enough praise for our accommodations there. I was particularly struck by the well-appointed interiors and grounds at Fuentes. The views are absolutely spectacular (to witness: we have hundreds of photos!), including the lovely infinity swimming pool, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Given the opportunity, we would return in a flash!!! (ps - dealing with the owners was easy and very pleasant).

We stayed for a week while attending my brothers wedding. We have two young Children and also my cousin and her partner. There was plenty of room for us all an 3 good sized bahrooms. The swimming pools were great and the views were lovely. I do think this appartment is best if you have a hire car as it is situated up steep hill and on the outskirts of town.

The view from this villa is breathtaking...it overlooks the med and the mountains. The villa is great for a big family four big bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Comfortable, clean and very well equipped. Would definitely recommend this one.

The villa is absolutely beautiful... views are fantastic. Everything was spotless and the accommodations great and comfortable. Back patio was ideal for evening dinner outside. Not noisy at all... Almunecar daily market and downtown was only 5 minutes away. Pool was pristine and cooling during some of the hot days we stayed.

We found the villa well-equipped, very clean and spacious, considering we were a party of nine people. As we were two separate families, each with children, we could have done with another shower room, as the ensuite bathroom was only really available to one family, which left just one shower over bath for the other family - unfortunately this particular shower also didn't work very well as part of the fitting was broken. Apart from that, the villa was very nicely furnished and comfortable.
We mainly enjoyed eating outside on the patio with stunning views of the mountains and sea.
We enjoyed the pools - the adults preferred the infinity pool, but the children enjoyed both. Neither pool was overcrowded, considering we were staying in peak holiday season.
A car is important as it is a very steep climb up to the villa, and it would be a bit of a trek into Almunecar without one. The location gave us quick and easy access to the main roads for sight-seeing. We loved visiting Granada and the Alhambra, but also Nerja, and up into the mountains to Jete, Otivar and the hot springs at Alhama de Granada. We also enjoyed a BBQ and Flamenco show at the Venta Luciana in Torrecuevas.
We found this area of the coast very Spanish in character - most of the other holidaymakers were Spanish.
We would recommend this villa to anyone who would like a relaxing holiday, in a not too-touristy area.

My wife and I enjoyed a lovely holiday in the Wells home this past Easter. The home features a magnificent ocean view and easy access to almunecar as well as a number of excellent destinations for day trips (ie. Comares and Granada).
The home has a very nice layout and can easily accommodate a large family group. The pool and the patio wonderfully facilitate days of relaxing with a good book. We were totally pleased and look forward to a return visit someday.
