This beautiful city is known to be the oldest continuously inhabited settlement in Europe. Founded as Gadir by the Phoenicians in about 1100 BC, this ancient port is a perfect blend of the old and the new. Its cobbled streets and beaches have a distinctly laid-back atmosphere and its low profile as a tourist hot spot means that you’ll feel like one of the locals as you explore its sun-bleached streets. Craggy mountains, pine forests and sandy beaches are never far away, so exploring the great outdoors is a pleasure in Cádiz.
Whether you’re looking for a city center apartment or a spacious villa with a private pool, you’ll find it on FlipKey. All you need to do is choose your favorite rental and book!
Explore the city
One of the best ways to discover Cádiz is on foot. You can easily spend hours walking through the narrow cobbled streets, simply admiring the jumble of different architecture that spans back to Roman times. Keep an eye out for the cathedral with its 18th-century watchtower and the Torre Tavira where you can enjoy a 360 degree view of the city.
To see some breathtaking archaeological finds, visit Yacimiento Arqueológico Gadir where you can find out about Phoenician culture. The centerpiece of the site revolves around the figure of Mattan, a Phoenician who died in a fire in the sixth century BC. This is an archaeological gem you won’t forget in a hurry!
If you’re a keen gardener, take a stroll through the ‘rooms’ at the beautiful Park Genoves. This gorgeous botanical wonder is home to many different varieties of plants and trees that are sure to inspire any budding horticulturalist. It’s also the perfect place for a romantic walk and a picnic in the sun.
Food & drink
From farm shops to fine dining, Cádiz is a culinary delight. If you want to cook up a treat at your vacation rental, pop into Ignacio Castro’s farm supply shop where you can source local ingredients. Seafood is a favorite in the city so why not try some freshly-caught fish at Casa Balbino? And, of course, when it comes to tapas you’re spoiled for choice. El Lola’s garlic potatoes with fresh mackerel will have you coming back for more!

Perfect chilled out retreat
We spent a week at Casa azulita - and it was just what the doctor ordered. The place itself couldn't have been more relaxed - a stylish cabin only s short distance from the beach, with all that you could need for a week's R&R; in this lesser known part of Spain.
Dom, Lisa and Roosta (the world's friendliest dog) were the perfect hosts - they gave us loads of useful info about the place itself; where to eat, what to see, and most importantly where to surf. Their helpful yet chilled style complimented the place itself.
We only chanced on finding this place, but what a superb discovery. We are definitely going back. Thanks guys - perfect holiday …
