IMPORTANT - We have 6 chalets and have three listed here with separate calendars for availability. If the date you are looking for is showing unavailable here, please check the other pages. The Chalets have had a facelift for 2021 and four now have double beds in the main bedroom while two still have twin beds. Let us know which you'd prefer and we'll try to accommodate you.

Ardwell Chalets are the perfect base for anyone looking for an affordable family holiday in peaceful surroundings in beautiful South West Scotland.The six wooden chalets are situated 20 yards from the shore of Luce Bay, and face across the bay with fine views of the Galloway Hills. They are on the edge of the tiny settlement of Ardwell, and in the next village, Sandhead, there is a shop, post office, sandy beach and a friendly pub which also serves good food. Ten miles away is the busy little town of Stranraer on Loch Ryan with its leisure centre, swimming pool and other amenities while further up Loch Ryan it's possible to take a day trip to Belfast.

Ardwell itself has a successful fishing shop, Ardwell Marine, as Luce Bay is particularly popular for sea fishing, especially tope -- one website even calls it "God's Country". In front of the chalets is a grassy area where children and pets can run around safely and within walking distance you can swim, paddle, sail and fish in the sea, or simply sit on the verandah and admire the peaceful rural scenery. Within walking distance are the renowned gardens of Ardwell House while The Mull of Galloway Trail, a footpath stretching 13 miles to the spectacular cliffs at Scotland's most southerly point, the Mull of Galloway, passes yards away from the chalets. As the halfway point on the Trail they make the perfect place to stay for those walking the whole path.

Built of Finnish design, the chalets are very attractive both inside and out, and have a high standard of insulation meaning they maintain a comfortable temperature in hot or cold weather. Each chalet has a good-sized living room, two bedrooms (one with twin beds or a double bed and one with bunk beds), kitchenette and bathroom. They can comfortably accommodate four and by arrangement some can sleep up to six. The chalets are fully furnished and equipped with TV, electric water heater, cooker and refrigerator (£1 electricity slot meter), duvets, pillows, cutlery, crockery, cooking and cleaning utensils. Visitors are required only to bring sheets, duvet covers, towels and pillowcases. There is adequate space beside each chalet for a car, and some people meet up with friends at our neighbouring small caravan park.
