Description
Le Pommier is part of an original farmhouse and barn built in the early 1800s in rolling French countryside. Set in 3.5 acres, there is a large garden with terrace, patio furniture and barbecue for you to enjoy. It is located midway between Bagnoles de l'Orne and Lassay-les-Chateaux, both about 8 miles away. Bagnoles is a well known French spa town famous for its waters and healing properties and there is an excellent selection of restaurants in the town. Lassay is known for its chateaux and also has a delightful rose garden. The picturesque medieval town of Domfront with its chateau and church of St. Julien is 17 miles away. Though all amenities are nearby, our location is very tranquil and you can feel the peace and quiet envelop you. The village of Madré is 2km from Le Cerisier and has a butcher's shop, post office and small bar. There are excellent restaurants in the villages nearby which serve fixed price lunches including cider and wine.
Le Pommier sleeps six people and is a light and spacious cottage with all you will require for a comfortable holiday.
The front door opens into the living room with separate kitchen diner located off the living room area.
The living room has comfortable seating, log burning fire, English satellite TV along with DVD. There are patio doors leading to the terrace and open garden with BBQ.
The dining kitchen has large dining table, chairs and all required cutlery and crockery. The kitchen includes gas cooker, fridge freezer, coffee maker, electric kettle, microwave, toaster, iron and washing machine, dishwasher.
Stairs lead up to the landing from which there are:
Master bedroom with double bed, wardrobe, drawers etc. There is plenty of space for a cot if required (please enquire for details).
Two further twin bedrooms.
The bathroom is located off the landing and has WC, wash handbasin and shower.
All bed linen and towels are included in the rental rate.

Outside:
The garden outside the gites is just under an acre so there is plenty of room to spread yourselves out. Garden and patio furniture along with barbecues are available.
There are a further 2.5 acres beyond the garden which is given over to a playing field - ideal for energetic youngsters - and a newly planted orchard which we are developing. You are more than welcome to sample the apples, pears and plums when in season.
The swimming pool is around 1 metre deep and close to the terraces so you can keep an eye on your children while enjoying a glass of wine, cooking the barbecue or just relaxing.

Smoking is allowed outside only, not inside the building.
Fixed convector heaters are located in the bathrooms and bedrooms.
A cot is available if required and will be placed in the double bedroom though you will have to provide bedclothes for the cot.

“A Gem of a Gite”
A spacious and surprisingly comfortable gite in very good order and spotlessly clean.. Wonderful views from the patio and just great for BBQs.. A real "get away from it all" location with no passing traffic or other noise. Great country walks. When there is no cloud, the night sky is just breathtaking. The owners George and Yvette were always on hand to make our stay as enjoyable as possible and we will certainly be returning

“A peaceful and relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings.”
Myself, my partner and 2 children together with my parents stayed at Vine Cottage for one week in August 2011 before travelling to visit family in the South West of France for the second week of our holiday. All I can say is that I am so glad we chose Vine Cottage. On arriving the owners George and Yvette warmly welcomed us with open arms to show us around the cottage which they did so with enthusiasum and passion for this gem of a holiday rental. They left us a welcome gift of wine and the reassurance that they were on hand on site in their farmhouse if there were any queries or anything we wanted. On settling in to the cottage after a long ferry crossing we easily felt at home as the accommodation was large and spacious with a homely feel. The weather was warm and we were soon captivated by the peace and tranquility of the gardens with endless views of fields and agricultural land. George and Yvette pointed out the fruit trees incluing apple and plum and blackberry bushes and told us to help ourselves as there was plenty. The apple trees were laiden with fruit so it wasn't long before my mother was picking for one of her famous apple pies! The kitchen was a lovely size and well equiped with everything you needed to prepare any meal you wished. Also George and Yvette explained that there were bicycles in the shed for our use if we so wished and yes for the first time in about 30 years I decided to give it a go, and its right what they say you never forget! Even my 73 year old father gave it a go and enjoyed cycling around the quiet country lanes. My daughter who is 18 and my son 13 also enjoyed the holiday in their own way as my daughter is a keen young artist and she spent a lot of time relaxing in the gardens painting and my son making full use of the pool, swings and generally the freedom of the vast outdoor space. So as you can tell from my review this holiday kept everyone in my family happy, including myself and my partner who are perfectly happy to sit of an evening with a lovely bottle of wine, french bread and a plate of cheese. Life can't get any better than that! So if you are looking for a peaceful and totally relaxing holiday in a beautiful setting this is for you. George and Yvette are lovely and make really wonderful hosts, nothing is too much trouble for them as they are passionate about what they do. We will definitely be going back next year to do it all again.

“Vine cottage hit the spot”
We were in need of a relaxing holiday in a really French part of France and Vine Cottage certainly addressed our needs. The cottage had everything we needed, good kitchen, comfy and large lounge, open fire (super on a cool evening), large sky views, more stars than you could point a stick at and two lovely hosts in George and Yvette. G & Y provide free bikes for cycling around the unbelivelably empty roads, followed by a dip in the pool (refreshing). As a birdwatcher it was great to visit a local barn to see 2 roosting tawny owls. local forests are amazing Domfront is historical and interesting Spa treatments in Banjoles will be going back
