Description from owner
Description
Located in the picturesque village of Bathampton on the Kennet & Avon canal. Walking distance to Bath city centre, also perfect cycle route/commute to Bath or Bradford-on-Avon.
Larkspur is a generously sized fully furnished 10x65 houseboat. Brand new, just recently been fitted out as a liveaboard with modern fixtures and fittings through out. It is permanently moored in Bathampton near The George Inn, St Nicholas's church & the Boat Cafe.
The boat has 2 double bedrooms (1 x double and 2 x single beds) plus a further sofa bed in the lounge. There is one family bathroom (2 sinks & large shower and toilet) and a spacious open plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The main bedroom features doors that open out to a seating area at the front of boat, with outdoor storage lockers. There is also plenty of room for guests to sit out at the back of the boat. The kitchen area features a 'duck hatch', suitable for feeding ducks and swans whenever the moment arises too! There is also plenty of wardrobe and storage space for holiday essentials.
The width of our boat (ten foot) compared to the normal sized hire 'narrow boats' of 6ft makes the journey and experience much more pleasurable for everyone to move about and socialise, not to mention bags of room to relax, sleep, cook and play games!
Larkspur is available for hire throughout the year as detailed below for up to 6 people.
Weekly hire of the boat is from Saturday 10am to the following Friday 5.30pm.
Sometimes we can also hire for part of the week (minimum 3 nights Sat - Tue or Tue - Fri if you would rather do a shorter break. If outside of these times still try us - please call us/email us if you would like to arrange this or specify this on the booking form via our Bloomsbury Boats website.
Staying on canal boat is a unique experience and Bloomsbury boats aim to give you a very pleasant stay! Our canal boat ‘Larkspur’ like most other boats on the Kennet and Avon is moored in an ‘off grid’ fashion – ie it generates it’s own electricity through sunlight and from powering the engine to charge it’s batteries. This means that guests will be briefed in what to do so they have enough energy throughout the day eg charging the engine and turning on/off a few switches. You will be able to charge your phone or ipad but only use our hairdryers (max 1000W).
Also, it holds it’s own water for washing, showering etc rather than having a mains supply piped in so guests do need to go easy on water consumption but on average enough for 4 people for 3-4 days.
Your main source of heat will by using the wood burner throughout the day and a diesel heater at night.
Hiring a canal boat is a wonderful way of life. Eco friendly, people friendly and duck friendly living!
Please note this is a static hire only, no parties, stags or hen parties etc
