Le Manoir De St. Marcel is set-up to cater for families with children.
Your children can expect to meet other children.
We provide a safe secluded environment for them to play in, & they are made to feel very welcome.
Our local restaurant, just 2 minutes' walk from your front door is unusual in that they provided genuine haute cuisine whilst remaining child-friendly.

There are wide French doors giving access to the spacious sitting/dining room with comfortable chairs and sofas including a bed settee and satellite TV. There are also doors off the patio into the kitchen with cooker, dishwasher, microwave, and fridge. Stairs from the kitchen lead to a pretty first floor bedroom with exposed beams and a further private and secluded patio area and garden. From the kitchen a door leads to the bathroom with full size bath, toilet and large basin. A stone arch leads to the shower room with washing machine and then a door through to the lower bedroom with twin beds.
TO NOTE THIS SUMMER! - Just announced: St. Marcel Du Périgord is hosting a “marché gastronomique” on Friday 13th July, Friday, 10th August, & Friday, 24th August:
This is a bit like a medieval banquet in the village square. – If it is as good as last year it will be great fun!

Tremendous location for all that Dordogne has to offer. Numerous leisure pursuits for all ages.
Large enough: During summer there will probably be other children for your children to play with.
Small Enough: You will know exactly who everybody is. It is not a Butlin's type environment.

“Rural charm”
As pungent wood smoke curled across the pretty hillside above the mellow stone village of St Marcel, Peter, the charming owner, welcomed us into the warmth of La Porcherie on a cold damp February afternoon. The flavours of rustic life captured in the exposed stonework, wood and tile floors and beams wrapped us in history without the hardships. The electric heating, efficient hot water system, easy to use wood stove, dishwasher and range of English TV channels were all most welcome. Indoors and out the rural tranquility was broken only by the solemn tolling of the church bell and trilling birdsong. On a summer day we would use of the barbecue, private courtyard garden, pool and grounds, but in winter the blazing woodburner and generous log supply completed a delightful fortnight.

“a brilliant place, wonderful for families”
we had a wonderful family holiday at la manoir. the accommodation was clean, well presented and suitably stocked with all mod cons and utensils needed for a relaxing stay. peter and nancy are wonderful hosts and i cant thank them highly enough. the facilities including the pool and play barns were ideal for entertaining our 14 month old even when the weather was not at its best. la manoir is ideally placed to explore the dordogne and the local villages and we had a fabulous holiday

“Another great stay....”
Having stayed in Le Pigeonnier last year we decided to treat ourselves and stay in La Porcherie this year even though there were only two of us. This property is extremely spacious and, of course, benefits from all the amenities afforded to all the properties at Le Manoir. Free wifi, large swimming pool, games room etc. Peter and Nancy were, as ever, perfect hosts. Ensuring that you have everything you need including ordering fresh croissants and bread from the local bakers to be delivered every morning. La Porcherie has a very large lounge/dining room as well as a breakfast table in the kitchen giving you plenty of room to spread out and feel comfortable. The shower in the seperate shower room is perfect for waking you up in the morning or for refreshing yourself if you've been sunbathing on the secluded upper terrace. Something which we did frequently. Fully equipped with everything you need, including enough cutlery and crockery to cater for everybody staying in the surrounding gites, it also has the essentials of a dishwasher and washing machine. Would we stay here again? Without a doubt. La Porcherie is a great base for exploring the surrounding countryside whilst having enough room to make yourself feel comfortably at home when you return.
